Dolphins Cut aj edds/other moves

They don't throw out every pick, you know that. Edds tore his ACL and has not really shone in a position where we have depth. I really wanted Edds to be a hit and I think a lot of other posters felt the same way, but he's not exactly been lighting it up.

We sucked balls on special teams last year. People on here every day bitching about how the FO doesn't understand that ST is the third unit and deserves specialised personnel rather than a bunch of roster churned scrubs. They upgraded special teams this year and now the FO are retards for not keeping bottom of the roster players rather than special teams guys.

Edds was a good pick but nobody could have predicted he'd tear his ACL. We can maybe still keep him on PS. I don't see why you should keep draft picks just because they're picks. They either work out or they don't. Nobody wants to see a pick lost like this, but injuries to that in every teams roster every few years.

I liked Edds. That's a damn shame and from this perspective, an odd move. I look at our roster and I don't see talent that necessitated cutting his potential loose.

Other than the fact that the phins have so much depth there, I don't get the move.
Almost like they forgot they had Odrick and Edds sidelined last year when they started with FA this year... ignore the Oline and stack up on players on D where you've got guys who have yet to get a shot.

Here's hoping he lands somewhere and gets a shot and shows this FO they made a mistake.

Interesting factoid about Ryan Cook...Cook was a former second round pick, originally used by a pick of ours. A pick that was sent to Minnesota from the Daunte Culpepper trade. Talk about coming full circle lol.

It's not about keeping players just because they are draft picks. It's more that Edds wasn't that bad and it hadn't become apparent that he was a "bust" until the team decided to force that conclusion. Sadly this team has made enough bad draft picks in the middle rounds that were absolutely worth cutting, which makes it even more worth an uproar that they cut a guy who seemed to be worthwhile despite the injury.

And just to think, one day we could be bringing back A.J. Edds in place of another decently talented young player. Oh boy, its so fun when other team's players are always so much better than your own draft picks!

I just can't that worked up over a guy who "wasn't that bad", y'know?

Everyone wants Jerry ditched and he was a third rounder.

Don't know how accurate it is, but on the NFL Dolphins roster here....

They don't have Frank Kearse listed any more so we're at seven on the practice squad. Maybe we're looking to put Edds there and axed Kearse to do so. Either that or another team plucked Kearse or the NFL site is wrong. Not sure what to make of it. Also of note, they show Berger on the I.R., thus shelving him for the year. Don't know if that's right either, but that's what it's showing.

Oh yeah, they also show Jimmy Wilson is now #25 too instead of 35.

The thing with Edds is that his most likely career path and short term contribution is as a coverage specialist, and with Kevin Burnett the Dolphins don't need to sub out a 2-down linebacker anymore.

Edds to me played great alwauys around the ball.... WOW this FO is hard to gauge...

The only reason Spitler is still around, is because you need to have a "readily available" player to cut in case someone special needs to be added, thats the only reason I can think of...

KLV760 RT @ckparrot: @KLV760 Games 3, 4, Edds on losing end of many coverage matchups. Was drafted for coverage. Lot of tackles came way downfield.

It felt like he was always getting burnt in coverage.
