Tua time!
i don't think that 260 lb number we got in camp last year was legit either...i think he was lighter...248 at the combine...
LOL yea not getting those picks back so we better live with it. There was a reason we moved up so cheap, we were much more enthused than any other team about him.
Hope he pans out but I think he will be an ok player at best

What makes you say we were the only one interested?!? He was projected top 5 by EVERY analyst. All this hindsight talk is bull ****!
yes you do dion...work your rear end off this offseason to develop a counter redirect back inside move and work to get off the snap faster
hes not a pass rusher so anyway you look at it he was a bad pick. hes never gonna be a dominant pass rusher and for those of you who say its too early to write him off, what high draft pick in recent memory who was a rusher did pretty much zippo his 1st year then turned it on and became a double digit sack machine?
don't have to go far. olivier vernon.
The kid has a lot of good tools to work with going into next season. One thing that bothered me when he was called-in for pass rushing duties, that Hoops commented on quite a bit, was this:
Besides the speed rush to the outside he doesn't seem to have a counter and didn't even hint at one as the season progressed. I don't know if that was a function of his Shoulder, Lack of Power, Experience or Coaching.
I would further add it seems like most of our Pass Rushers don't have a consistent counter. If my observation is accurate then this is disturbing!
Finally scheme wise is it me or does it seem like we don't employee much "looping" on the D-line? 99% of the time Cam Wake and O.V. will be coming from the edges rarely, if ever, will you see them looping inside to a void created by the Tackles pushing to the outside.
My X's and O's members can articulate what I'm trying to say above. But, observing other teams it seems like we rarely use those kinda schemes...
i was referring to top 10 picks who were duds their 1 st year then dominated...i cant think of one
Yes, a lot of work to do. Like, get in a time machine and give us back our first and second round pick. So, instead of an unused edge rusher, we'd have a blocking TE or RB,..AND leverage in the Brandon Albert trade.
There are so many option with what could have been done with those 2 picks. But just at first glance, to go with the plan Ireland seemed to be going in initially...which was Tavon Austin and Brandon Albert....would have been much better for our 2013 season.

I tried telling everyone is physiologically impossible to build muscle that fast. You're limited to about 20 pounds a year as a theoretical maximum. Football players are naturally going to build less than that due to their nature of their profession. If Jordan weighed 248 at the combine there's no way he gained 12 pounds of muscle by training camp. I posted about this back in July:
