Hmm... kind of telling that Zack Martin and JaWuan James aren't listed..
 
When I see a draft goal is to find a backup qb that's when I know minus all the other obvious stuff in the goals list this whole thing is rediculous

IMO, your hand is FORCED to consider drafting like that because the hand you were dealt at OL, RB and WRs 2-5 is simply chicken crap or mediocre at best (sorry, BH).

In today's league, it just won't cut it. You end up getting manhandled by teams like the Bills.

Without making such changes you're looking at 3rd place in the AFC EAST at best.

Hickey gets it.

Protect the QB. Run the football. And have a WR corps that actually pressures the D across the board and in the red zone.

p.s. And btw, I guess you were sad to see Sparano go because the Jets hired him as soon as Miami fired him, lol. Makes as much sense as pretending Ireland had a clue just because he got hired, lol. This is an incestuous league, in case you haven't noticed. Rather hire a washed up idiot than up and coming talent. It's not WHAT you know (getting hired on staff) all the time. More like who you know.
 
I was talking about it with my friends the other day...I think Ireland was "brought on" by the Seahawks to do 1 thing. Look for trade partners either up or down during the draft process, and allow the FO to focus on players. He is simply there to to see what options he can give the Seahawks in position trading....JMO
 
this is actually a VERY telling piece.

you canbet, for absolute certain that most, if not all of this is bunk and wont happen.

just writers getting print and leaning on the things every hack and arm chair finz expert has been saying since season end.

i dont thing the finz are going o-line UNLESS one of the top 3 falls. and they wont.

there are just WAY to many play makers on both sides of the ball to draft a RT at#19. there is a LOT of really good RT prospects and they do not need to draft a RT that hi.

however, that kouandijo name keeps popping up and i think that guy is going to be a bust. that is the pic i would be the most unhappy with.
 
If they wait until round 5 to draft defense, this defense will start to tank and the perpetual cycle of having half a football team will continue in Miami

All we know is that Hickey's board is bigger than Ireland's, he doesn't limit his own options, so we'll have to wait and see.

I think this is about right, though:

Get a starting RT, OG
Get a short yardage RB
Find a solid #2 receiver

We do need linemen, and we have no real short-yardage RB or FB, and a talented receiver is always good in scheme where Philbin wants great route running and YAC. We have needs on defense as well. I don't think we're locked in the first round, necessarily.

Can't wait for the draft!

Unlike previous GM's, it seems Hickey isn't fixated on a limited number of players.
 
Meaningless.....no team is going to reveal their actual plan unless it's reverse psychology...who knows?
 
so you say it's defense huh...lay it on me what on d that will play enough snaps in 2014 players you expect to validate that top 20 pick if d is the route...i frankly don't see many options that would come in from the get go and play at least 60 percent of the snaps
