Dolphins Exploring Osi Umenyiora

It's also no guarantee that he'd just be able to switch to a 3-4 OLB; especially with a shortened offseason. He was also mad at the giants previous DC back in 2009 because they had him do more stuff than just go after the QB. Giving up all that money and a pick for someone who might only see the field in sub packages is too costly imo.

of course if NE did it I'd be psyched and wouldn't question it.

You all are fools. I'd trade a 2nd round pick for him in an instant.

He gets to the quarterback and forces turnovers. He would help the offense by setting them up in scoring position throughout the season.
Translation: draft Dan Carpenter in fantasy

I'm sure most teams that want to improve their offense, don't go after a QB, but rather draft a defensive player.

Question is, where does he play in a 3-4 defense? The guy has made his living as a 4-3 DE.

Are they going to make him and OLB? Another DE is not needed...someone better than Misi is.

Wow 12 Millions a year this is absurd this is something that Al davis would do. If we sign him to 12 millions we can not give a contract to wake next year and wake is important to this team. Dansby is already getting paid 10 now we give Osi 12, and he is almost 30 years old.??? NOt smart. if we do this next year we will have to let Solia and Wake walk and that is just not smart.

some of you guys probably don't even know what the difference in a 3-4 and 4-3 is...not everyone is scheme diverse...osis a prototype 4-3 end...this is absolutely a risky deal to ask him to play standing up...

i'm really surprised some 4-3 team isn't all over this for a 2nd rounder...all over it...especially a contender that needs a piece that can offer a late 2nd and a say 4th...or even a 3rd...thats who should be looking to get osi

someone like tampa bay who's got plenty of money and has an edge rush need...this may well help get them over the hump in the division

What gets me is how anyone who posts what appears to be an outrageous transaction is instantly given credibility because the prevailing opinion is that this FO is so bad they would make that move. There is no evidence that Miami is looking to make a trade for Osi. They are not listed anywhere on the net by reputable sources as being in the mix. Just because Miami is looking to free up money, doesn't mean Osi is the target. Orton is more likely. The lead post is BS.

Let's see...your comment....or the OP who is actually going to be a consultant this year to an NFL team? Hmmm....let me think about that...

i'm surprised the panthers don't go after him. charles johnson and osi would be a scary combo and they would need all the help they can get with Brees, Ryan and Freeman.

yeah whats the damn deal with the eagles and jets able to give out like $75 mil in guaranteed money contracts and we're over here sniffing around with pretty much nothing more than 2 year deals and has been veterans???

i mean what kind of capologist do we have in the building???

why would a non contender like the panthers add a 30 year old veteran pass rusher and pay him $60 mil??? its the contenders that would be all over this...the ones who feel they only need a piece or two and edge rushers one of them

Chargers and Ravens are both 3-4, and have made it know they are interested in Osi. I think he could be even more productive in a 3-4.

Cam Wake never played in a 3-4 before. Wake even played in a league where they line up 3 yards off the line of scrimmage before coming here. Saying Osi cant play in a 3-4 is just dumb.
