Dolphins Exploring Osi Umenyiora

This report is completely false!!! he wants a huge contract and were not going to give up a 2nd round pick for him, plus he is a 4-3 DE, not a 3-4 OLB!!

Too many negatives in this deal. First off, he is already 30 . . . the guy got all hot and bothered by the big contract Carolina gave Charles Johnson . . . well hell he is only 25. Sure he hasn't proven nearly as much as you have but he is a free agent and you are not. 2nd, though I'm sure he could easily transisition to a 3-4 OLB . . . it isn't a guarantee he will be as successful. 2nd round pick and 12 million is an awful lot to give up for a guy who is just a good pass rusher but could struggle against the run. Also, where does this leave the #40 pick from the 2010 draft? Koa is not a bad player, but he would definitely be relegated to a backup role. Also, what would Cam Wake think of this? Osi is NOT a better OLB than Cam Wake . . . how can you bring in one guy making 12 million and the other guy making 1 million. SMH, and finally, what will the fans think about once again neglecting the QB position. I'm no Kyle Orton fan, but I can respect giving up a pick and a nice sized contract if you have convictions of Kyle Orton being that guy with this defense and his connection with THE BEAST, not a fan of the trade, but would be in comparison to this one. And if you can pony up that kind of money for Osi . . . You can't call Cincy up and offer them an attractive package? I don't wanna overpay for a QB that may help these guys save their jobs short term . . . but if you are going to do something . . . do it right and go after Carson Palmer.

Actually, it is more than likely true . . . do you not know your own front office?

And the fact that he is a 4-3 DE means less than you think . . with a guy like Osi, his hand is going to be on the ground alot still . . . he isn't Dansby . . . Miami is not going to be bringing him here for his ability in coverage.

Of all the moves that the Dolphins could possibly make with giving up a #2 and 12Mil per year, this one would have to be the most baffling considering our areas of need. Great player who could solidify our defense for several years to come? Absolutely, but needed? Not so much, our defense is one of most solid areas that would need very little to push it into one of the top 4 so the question would be why now are the Dolphins willing to give a second rounder? and why on a defensive lineman when another area, much more urgent, is obviously one that could be addressed with such a concession? I'm not suggesting Orton is the one here (not even close) but there may be another QB out there, with a little tweeking, pushing and prodding that may be able to be swayed with such a bold move and worth that cost (Maybe) but if not a QB then maybe a twofer...TE + FS or WR proven compliment to Marshall, just sayin, that's a steep price to pay for an area in need of very little.

Anybody who says he is a 4-3 end and not a 3-4 olb doesn't know what the hell they're talking about...If the Giants up and decided to switch to a 3-4 guess what position he would play?

As nice as it would be to have him, #1 we dont know how good he will be as an OLB. #2 we dont have picks to waste on more D, why not get more Off? #3 why spend so much money on a new OLB when we need to re-sign Wake, Solai, and eventually Vontae? I much rather sue those picks and $ to get a legit QB. Im more content with Misi @ OLB then Henne @ QB.. Bad move IMO.

What gets me is how anyone who posts what appears to be an outrageous transaction is instantly given credibility because the prevailing opinion is that this FO is so bad they would make that move. There is no evidence that Miami is looking to make a trade for Osi. They are not listed anywhere on the net by reputable sources as being in the mix. Just because Miami is looking to free up money, doesn't mean Osi is the target. Orton is more likely. The lead post is BS.

Neither was Philly for Nnamdi.

Great player but I am NOT a fan of that move. I want offense! Would he start over Starks or Langford? I'm guessing Langford?

He would start over Misi on the other side, or play with his hand in the dirt on passing downs. Osi is not a 3-4 end.

Lets just put 95% of our salary on defense, and do like Coach Beaulieu in The Waterboy, kneel down 3 times and punt on offense.

The thing about this deal us that it makes one if the plethora of good d-linemen we have expendable via trade.

Osi is a beast. He'll be a beast in any defense. Id do this deal in a heart beat, considering that then trading Starks and say a 3rd for Orton or Palmer becomes plausible.

Whatever, one can dream...

Watch the Jets pick him up...and then lets see what all the naysayers on this board think of that
