Dolphins hope Billy Turner can earn a starting spot at one of the guard spots

Turner is LT not a G and now the Dolphins want to transition a Rookie to a new position as he enter the NFL.. hmmmm Gabe Jackson would have been he better choice here..

Oh shhh and go kick rocks!

Most NFL OGs started out as college OTs.

I wouldn't argue with this guy. He's just trolling. One of the rookies on the Chicago offensive line that I mentioned was Kyle Long who was an OT at Oregon but clearly this guy is just trying to troll the board.

Im keen on Turner at LG, however - the main concern I have and will be watching closely in preseason - can he anchor? and in particular against the interior DL of the Bills/Jets.

If he can do that - he's a keeper.

Have we found our updated version of webb and sims? i know the draft circumstances are slightly different but that would be fun wouldn't it?

How hard could it be for a tackle to learn the guard position.I would worry more if he was a Guard and had to learn the Tackle position.

Its not about learning. Have you ever played?

Since pee wee, youre taught small techniques; simple buckets, direction off the ball, kicking, hand placement, helmet placement, etc- very small- not unlike a boxer perfecting one punch at a time to hopefully put it together into a beautiful flurry one day. Like any habit in life, these techniques become comfortable over a long period of time. They become second nature and some are used much more than others depending on your position. Billy Turner has not been chipping off to the LB for the last how many ever years of his life and other responsibilities of the sort.

Now line is line and it has a foundation that translates to all. Its far from impossible to transition but you are now starting a rookie much more behind than if you were plugging him into his comfort zone, where technique is instinct replacing thought.

I think Gabe Jackson is going to be a stud. Whether or not he would have excelled in our system . . . I'll say that I understand the concerns. He's not fast, but he does have some suddenness and quickness to his game. At 28 lbs heavier, he put up slightly better numbers in the vert and broad than Zach Martin. I would have taken Jackson over Turner. I like the Turner pick and think he'll start at LG sooner than later, but I had a higher grade on Jackson, and I think that he has enough athleticism to make it work in any scheme.

Turner has played all four positions. He stayed at LT because he was the best O lineman at NDSU. In the short time he was at the Senior Bowl he managed to play guard quite well and also played some RT. I think he will start out as a guard but could even be the eventual replacement for Albert. Jackson doesn't have that versatility. I hope other NFL teams underestimate Turner like some on this site. He revels in challenges. Remember this quote, "Apparently Minnesota didn't think I was good enough, but I knew NDSU would play them so we could beat the **** out of them, which we did."

This pleases me.

Watching the game tape of all our draftees, Turner is the least of my concerns. I think he'll be very good at guard very early. I believe JJ will take a little more time, but will be fine also.

"Gabe Jackson would have been a terrible choice for us. He can't pull, he can't move. Clearly you don't understand ZBS concepts. Gabe Jackson is even slower than John Jerry."

Yeah, I understand and clearly you're okay with being mediocre ... If you think Turner was the right choice.. Come talk to me mid-season.. The ZBS, lol ask Tanny boy how that's working so far.. Hell, ask anybody how that's working so far..lol No passing game, 60 sacks with no running game... Gotcha!

if you really think we had a functional ZBS in place last season, watch some 90's Broncos football. you'll be surprised
