The overall vibes do seem low. I will agree with the author there. For me, it's also about comparing what other teams in the division did, as you are never building in a vacuum.
New England brought in Mike Vrabel as head coach, so the Patriots are bound to be better. I thought Buffalo drafted well. Talent wise the Bills are probably the best team in the AFC.
While I don't think Miami made up ground on the Bills, and it looks like a transition year, I also think it was a sneaky good offseason for the Dolphins.
Many here pegged guard as the biggest weakness and Grier immediately brought in Daniels, who PFF ranked as the 7th best guard two years ago. Savaiinaea was added in the second round. Other than Booker, he may be the most physical guard from the draft and he offers position versatility. So, this could be a huge upgrade for Miami.
A lot of talent left, but the Dolphins appear to be in a culture change. The entire offseason was about getting more physical. Grant, Phillips and Biggers on the defensive line, Gordon and Mattison at running back, Britt at linebacker, Westbrook-Ikine at wide receiver etc.
While the secondary is a huge question mark, over the last two years Miami has collected some bigger, physical players there. Press coverage seems to be a commonality too. Marshall, Johnson and Duck to name a few.
