Dolphins not sure about Gillislee

You seriously don't think the staff had every play in practice and preseason by Gillislee graded out? The fact is they did, and he didn't grade out good enough. So yeah, stick him into an NFL game that matters and suddenly his grading will improve when the competition heats up by 100 pct and the lights come on.

This is the NFL. Nothing is given. It's earned. Earn it in the hundreds of plays that the staff records and grades. Gillislee flat out didn't earn $hit. Maybe he just isn't good enough. Like a lot of our draft picks.

The media is feeding the dogs again. Probly leaked out to light a fire.

Gillislee could be a specialist type if he puts his mind to it. Put him back returning kicks next year for competition and see what he offers as a 3rd down back. These are the types of guys Belichick doesnt care about how small you are, just do it as I tell you in this particular game plan and do the things your best at.

Everyone all season will be talking about how bad this draft is and how Ireland sucks and he cant draft talent. I say just remember Jared Odrick. Not many players come out year one and are all world. In year two if they dont show any improvement, then you have something here.

And remember, the kid was a fifth rounder. Everyone uses that bust term too much. A bust is someone who just cannot play to their draft status and has a huge weakness to them of some sort that you didnt think would come about.

After all we've seen do you really trust ANY grading of Talent that this staff evaluates? Seriously? You can also include Free Agents and the Draft!

I could smoke an endless supply of trees and still make better draft picks. No no.... Ireland was on something for sure though

but we have no record to hold you accountable to so I guess we should just accept your notion?

I knew Odrick was a baller right out of the gate...big Paul too...not sure why many on this board were so hard on those guys. The big boys need time to learn how to eat right and get their technique down...learn how to use leverage, etc.

A running back should look good just by running the ball with speed, power, and decisiveness straight out of college. Gillislee does not seem to do that.

Oh, so you're saying Gillislee is a bust already based on an article by another journalist?
Imo he's toting the line between bust and marginal. U don't need a journalist to tell me that. I witnessed first during the preseason and next the one game he played in relief of DT. Neither are any good. Might as well have kept Jonas gray.

He hit his ceiling in college. He's a good football player, but at the NFL level, he's small, he's not fast, quick, or strong. I just don't see what he offers.

Kind of reminds me of Karim Abdul Jabbar. Good college player who lacked the physical attributes to be a good starting NFL back.

as a 5th round pick I didn't care about drafting him, but as it was mentioned, Gilly's biggest asset was he was a willing blocker. I also felt he could have been a useful short yardage back, but he's not exactly a power back. The thing with him is that as the 3rd RB (or expected 3rd RB) you have to be able to contribute something in the pass game, and it isn't a strength. For as bad as Thigpen was most of the season as a return man, when we used him on offense, he added some positive plays

Dolphins not sure about Gillislee

I'm sure Gillislee isn't sure about the Dolphins either.

why are we discussing mike gillislie after his rookie season. if he doesn't show tremendous improvement by training camp, get rid of him. he was a 5th round pick. no matter what he does or doesn't do, we need starting caliber running backs. if he doesn't pan out, is this the pick you are going to use to say ireland sucks? that's weak. anybody that was available when we picked gillislie had already been passed on 4 or 5 times (or more) by 31 other genius general managers. for every 5th round miss by ireland (if gillislie even becomes a miss) there is a 6th round clay or a 7th round matthews.

haha! a 5th round bust... I haven't done any research but Im pretty sure the success rate in the NFL for 5th round players is under 15%...

The percentages are low and the Zach Thomas' of the world are rare but when Ireland misses on any pick no matter what round it gets emphasized because of his track record in picking talent in the draft.
