Dolphins Nuggets

Yeah if he’s green lighted come week 1 I’m playing him. He’s playing on the 5th year I’m gonna try to get whatever I can out of him at that price. If he gets hurt again 25 would be his last season in Miami for me.
If he gets hurt again the price tag to extend him a year or two would be reasonable enough to bank on yet another recovery. If he balls out with 40 sacks + hits/hurries and 10 TFLs while being available for every game it may be a challenge for the team to keep him.

You don't sit a guy like that for the first 10 games if he is ready to go in Week 1. Sure he could get injured again in the first game but he also could get injured in his first game back after sitting for 10 games. He needs to play as soon as he is cleared to play.
Yeah. What a load of sh*t that is keeping a player out even though he’s ready to play. Crazy.

Jaelan Phillips update, great news, guy is an android, the top 1 percent of the top 1 percent of athletes, if anyone can recover from these injuries it’s a freak like him.

Dolphins strength coach Dave Puloka says Phillips has consistently sought to be challenged and pushed during his latest rehab, and it is showing. Chubb says Phillips has had to be held back from doing too much.

As his mentality served him well, so have his genes. Phillips is what trainers call a “responder,” meaning he can almost make strength gains just by looking at a dumbbell.

“When you are dealing with responders, the timelines can exceed the expectations,” Puloka says. “I’ve seen a lot of physically gifted players in 18 years here, and he’s up there in the top percentile.”

Phillips says his knee feels “incredible.” He also says his Achilles is doing great. His wrist no longer hinders him. And he hasn’t had a concussion in seven years.

He wouldn’t change a thing, believing his struggles are the rhythm in his life’s song.

All of it will be celebrated if he reaches his goals, which include winning Comeback Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Walter Payton Man of the Year, as well as having his contract extended before he becomes a free agent after the season.

Not long ago, he was limited to linear running without cutting. When OTAs began, Phillips didn’t know if he could participate in on-field drills.

Now, on practice fields lined by palm trees, he glides and bursts through drills, moving as if that scar on his knee isn’t there.

Phillips is in a good place. A really good place.
Its called contract year....

In a walk year the the player and one that may also be a transition year for the team I don't see any advantage to saving him. If he is ready let him play and help the team. The cost to extend will be the same if he plays well all year vs playing well the last half a year. Only way the cost goes down is if he is injured again or shows to have lost a step (which I doubt at his age).

That said, with all the guys we now have it makes sense to rotate and keep them fresh, which also reduces injury chances.

I hear ya, I’m still sitting him for half a season and working him in organically. He’s too good and this is the last chance for him to be an asset.

Trying to pass his injuries off as just flukes is pretty disingenuous. He was hurt twice in 2023 before he tore his Achilles. Couple in his college injury history and this is a guy to legitimately worry about.

And because I think the player is that great, I’d like to preserve him for when the games matter most. Ending the season anywhere but IR should be in the best interests of the team and the player.

So? Anyone can get hurt at any time. It’s a violent sport. Sh*t happens

History is still the best indicator of the future. Guys who are constantly rehabbing are going to be more predisposed to being hurt than those who aren’t.

A year ago we were seeing pictures of Jaelen Phillips with two different size calf muscles.

The guy was also hurt twice in 2023 before the Achilles injury, missing multiple games with a back injury. In addition to his college injuries.

I wouldn't let Phillips play the first 10 games of the season. He needs to finish the season on the active roster if his career is going to go somewhere and if he wants a decent pay check at seasons end, even if its only for one year. I am glad he's getting paid this year though, at least he has life changing money locked up.

I love the kid, he's a testament to hard work.

Jaelen Phillips was the best defensive player we've had on our roster since Howard was in his prime. Phillips was just becoming elite in 2023, especially after his thrashing of Lane Johnson.
you could say all the same things about tua, so maybe do the same thing with tua too. see if we can go 0-17 on the season by not playing guys that have injury risk. just a brilliant idea! in fact, bench the whole team, just wait for the 10th game for the starters, use picket line crossers from the usfl in the interim! they could go 5-2 at the end, and that would leave them at 5-12 on the year. yay! what a strategy, get the analytics department cranking on this one.

He’s the David Boston of pass rushers. But Boston was an All-Pro and Pro-Bowler before he blew too many tires.
I sure hope not 😭

But yeah, I am sick of the injuries derailing seasons. Hopefully I am allowed to be concerned about things once in a while. Doesn't mean I want a Tuanon type debate over every ****ing opinion.

Organically means carbon based, just like manure. - LOL

I think I’d be open to him sitting out certain games like any game at MetLife because of the risk of reinjury with that god awful turf…so I would sit him out situationally.
