Dolphins Players considered Richie an honorary black man

From the get go, I believe Martin felt he didnt belong in the NFL and was kinda just looking for a reason to leave. Or was getting close to the tipping point. Things like saving messages like that just leads me to think those messages affected him and he wanted to keep it around for whatever reasons. Maybe not legal but maybe just to have it to remind himself why he isnt cut out for the nfl. I dont think Martin leaving is just about incognito. I just think the guy doesnt fit. He wasnt man enough to speak up and say no and got taken advantage of. No one shared his sentiments so he was a man on a island. I dont even believe Martin thought this would blow up as much as it is now. But he is taking the legal route now, im not very sure what the legal ramifications right.

I think Martin saved those messages because he actually feared for his safety, he probably felt that one day Cog's would go off and there would be evidence of the threats against him and it wasn't a random thing.....I truly believe Martin feared Cog's but I also the believe that Cog's had no idea how afraid Martin was of him.....

I think Martin saved those messages, cuz his lawyer mommy told him to "save for a rainy day" Nothing more and nothing less. This is a contrived media feeding frenzy and witchhunt. Check with me later, but right now I'm solidly back on Team Richie and would like to see him reinstated as a big **** you to ESPN and other voracious and lazy media.

I don't know why this surprises anyone who has been involved in sports at a competitive level. You develop a bond that goes beyond many mainstream issues that elude the world of the politically correct.

Because what matters most is who is going to help you win, not all that other stuff. When you throw that other stuff in life out the window and focus on winning it makes a world of difference.

lol funny I've been told I'm black by black friends too and I'm white btw. thats just what happens when your close friends. race doesnt really matter. not saying I would ever use the N word, I dont feel comfortable doing that I think its disrepectful for one

This story just gets crazier as it goes on. Obviously Richie's intent was not criminal in nature but the problem is perception outweighs that intent.

Let's get ready for a football game.

Richie's career might be over. He is almost certainly finished in Miami. Why would anyone in that locker room be SCARED of him right now? And if you were, wouldn't you just keep your mouth shut instead of coming out swinging in his defense? Come on. This whole thing is just the biggest damn trainwreck of stupid bull**** ever.

I agree his days in Miami are over, I don't think his career is he will get another job and I guarantee you he will not be put in a leadership roll.....they are swinging in his defense because they were enablers when he was there, they won't admit they were scared of him but not one person in that locker room would challenge him...they walk around with their arm around his shoulders giggling about the stupid things he says and does, they have to defend him or be seen as Hippocrates by everyone in that locker room...

I also think Cog's thought him and Martin were close friends he had no idea how fearful Martin was of him

lol, i would bet everything i own, that not one player in the dolphins locker room said Richie is a black man. honorary or any other kind. Armando is a moron.

Nah, I believe it. It's just like black folks calling Bill Clinton 'the first black president.' It just is what it is.

I don't know what's going on with the Dolphins, but one thing I do know is we're going to have to add "honorary black man" to our Finheaven taglines.

What do you have to do to be considered 'black' and is it really an honor.

Can I be an honorary fan of pretty much any of the other 31 teams until this media circus is over?
We had a brief moment for the first 3 weeks of the season, where we weren't actually a joke...well, that's over.
I'll watch the games and wear my Miami gear (possibly covered up with a coat) but can I ever be proud to be a Miami fan in my lifetime, please!?
So frustrating...I can't imagine how frustrating it is for Ross!

its funny because as a "caucasian" male, i have had co-workers refer to me as their "nigga". Some of these folks took it upon themselves to explain to me their usage of that slur, they actually told me if you have an A at the end its alright to say to someone your close to, its when you throw an ER at the end of the word that you better be ready to fight.

So those MEN are ALL scared of Incognito?

This post has tool written all over it. This argument makes that locker room a bunch of *******. A bunch yellow bellied White and Black men.

I've had similar experiences growing up. People sense when you're comfortable with them and like them, and if they like you in return, you're embraced. I know it's a no-duh statement, but I've known plenty of people who could never relate to how easily some people get along with other people of different cultures and races. But I also echo your sentiment that no matter how embraced or accepted I've felt, I always knew and respected how hurtful the n-word is. It seems like younger people (I'm 29 - not THAT old) find it acceptable for white kids to use it with the soft R. I don't like it, and I can't relate to it, and depending on the situation, I'll tell someone not to use it, but I'm not going to tell a young black man to be offended by it. If he thinks it's fine for his white friends to use it, it's simply not my place. Do I think it's weird, and does it make me cringe a little? Yes. When this thing broke, I felt that Incognito was likely a sociopath and a racist. Now, I think he was being an idiot, but I don't think he was being malicious.

Haha .... Ritchie has more street cred in the locker room than Martin! Great stuff.

I've said it before (and got killed for it), it seems like to me, the real racists are those who yell "racist" the loudest.

Bottom line is, and people may not want to hear this, but Martin was considered to be a sissy and no one on the team respects him. And its sounding like Incognito was probably the closest thing he had for a friend. Strange times...
