Dolphins preparing themselves to pay Eugene Monroe top LT money

yeah but nicks didnt have that kind of injury history and thus didnt have to take that in the contract...eugene monroe wouldn't either...jake long did...

if i'm the rams i'm cutting jake long

Regardless of injury history, many teams put injury clauses in huge contracts. Even Flacco had one in his and he's never missed a game. Tampa fans are ticked over that contract.

i'm sure they are now...but i bet they loved it at the time...free agency is always a risk...had he been healthy i'm sure they would feel different...just one of those things

i doubt when a guy has a bunch of suitors to choose from unless he has an injury history he's gonna give in to something like that...teams would love it...but why take money potentially off the table if you don't have to...flacco never hit free agency had he i'm sure he could have gotten that injury clause if there is one not written in...baltimore just wanted to protect themselves in a i scratch your back you scratch mine kind of way

that contract with flacco was over the top but had he hit he would have gotten top 5 money as a free agent anyways...no doubt in my mind some qb needy team would have come a running...and multiple ones

After last year, dont f around.

He should be paid well to stop the bleeding of a guy who got injured consistently to a second year guy who was a walking phsyco who cant handle people.

how ironic it would be to have had the guy Balitmore gave us after giving up picks for Monroe only to have him end up here.

sorry, jeff ireland would never do that. who is the worst GM in the league? seems ozzie lost his mojo.

At the 19th pick in the draft is there any ol player that will come in and play at Monroe s level. I'm pretty sure there isn't. Pay Monroe the money and protect th for the love of god. You gotta give th a chance to succeed. We gotta give th a good ol and running game period.

Reminds me when we have interviews at work. We get some average candidates, and some bad ones and b/c we need a warm body we have to hire the best of the worst.

I'd rather have Lewan than Monroe. We could deal the 19 and 81 for around the 15 and get him.

Yeah, I'm still on the Veldheer bandwagon. I think you get a comparable talent to Monroe for less money. It would be irresponsible not to talk to both IMHO.

Incorrect.. He wanted to stay. Ireland made him feel unwanted.. Long has said that and Incognito has said that. Was he as good as when he started? No, but he was still the best offensive lineman on the team including Pouncey. I'm over him not being signed back, but I hate to see these stupid mistakes over and over every single year... We let our good draft picks sign elsewhere and sign some bloated contract warranting overrated free agent from another team. It's just not a good way to handle a team.

Long is not and was not better than Pouncey. Long isn't the player he once was. Long was a good draft pick who turned into an average player.

I'd pay $10 million to keep RT upright today to Monroe. Our franchise QB was the league leader in getting sacked. Monroe just seems too easy a choice.

If this happens, then I believe that HIckey made four good decisions in a row: sign Grimes, let Soliai walk, let Starks walk, and sign a good left tackle.

How is letting bothStarks and Solai go, a good decision? It may be a good deicison if there is a plan in place to replace the 2. Have you seem something I haven't? If not, at present time it is a dumb decision.

I don't think that letting Soliai walk is a good move, personally.
