Dolphins Radio Announcers

Emotion is a big part of being a fan and Mandich expressed what many of us felt as the events occured on the field. And it was a sincere emotion that we could all identify with.Like us he was proud to be a Dolphin fan because of our winning tradition.

I know that difficult for a Jet fan to understand that because your team is still an also-run and there is very little to be proud of :baghead: except for Joe Namath :drinker:
who played just after the Dutch acquired Manhatten from the natives:wharf: .

 Damn Right Crunch!!! Mandich is da man!! It sucks he won't be in the booth anymore.

im gonna mis ole mad dog. i'll never forget the "Bye Bye Ricky" vs. the jets

That was actually Howrd David who said that. I'm glad David is gone- he sucked. I HATED his style. I'm sure I speak for a majority of Dolfans when I say I want Zimfer to come back, but for whatever reason, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Well, David used to be the Radio annoucer for the JETS before he called the Fins games...

That was Howard David who said "Bye Bye Ricky, Bye Bye streak".

If Dan LeBatard has anything to do with the Dolphins broadcast, I will not listen on the radio at all. He is just annoying!!!!!!!!

I heard its gonna be Boog doing play by play and Joe Rose doing color. I would really like to see Zimfer and Mandich doing it again, but Boog was great with the Marlins and he could be really good with the Dolphins...Joe Rose as a color guy, Ill have to wait and see.

I hate when announcers are cheerleaders like Mandich was. The Jets unfortunately have gone to that type of crew as we have an awful duo but not quite as bad as Mandich.

NY, isn't Bob Wischusen, aka "The Sports Brat", the play-by-play guy on the radio up there? I'm not sure if you're aware, but I believe his first job out of college was here in Miami on WQAM back in the mid-90s. Jon Schiambi is still good friends with him, as they broke in together. His schtick back then was being the "controversial/whiner" type on the talk shows, not sure if he's just broadcasting the games now.

I remember that Zimpher was doing play-by-play of FIU football during at least the first season a few years ago, since Mandich owned (still owns?) the radio rights to their games. However, I'm not sure if he's still handling that role.

I also recall that one of the main problems he had was that he did not want to move down permanently to South Florida from Pennsylvania because I believe his kids were finishing high school up there, or something along those lines. Perhaps that's now a non-issue since a few years have passed, but I suspect that 790 will be trying to make somewhat of a splash with their first Dolphins radio team; Zimph has been out of sight, out of mind for a lot of South Florida sports fans for a while now. Solid announcer though.

Oh great...now everyone will jump on my case when I make a mistake!

Like that will ever happen.

Ah, but you see, it just did! The first statement was a hypothetical, so therefore the qualifier, "like that will ever happen", would need to be the future subjunctive case, not future indicative. "Like that would ever happen." would be the correct statement. Not like anyone cares, though. ;) :D
