HOW COME no one was praising APONTE before now?
she does NOT bring in, recommend, scout or decide who plays on this team. THE GM DOES!! and he is the one who talks with the agent and the agent tells him what his client wants for salary and perks [aka hookers and blow]. THEN he goes to aponte and says make it work.
so, all this "GREAT WORK MISS APONTE" stuff is unwarranted [at this time] as we have a crap load of money and i can add and subtract as well as her [and i hate math!!].
now, when someone like her makes the grade is when the money is tight and we need wiggle room. she is the one who goes over current players deal, who can be restructured, turns over rocks, stands on the street corner with knee pads, etc.. to get the money for a player THE GM wants/needs!! when the team is low on funds, not when its flush!
so, again, i didnt hear anything great about aponte last year, or year before, etc.... . and why? because the GM makes the personel decisions and IRELAND made bad, bad decisions. PLUS, she is still the woman who is a climber and has disrupted every front office she has been with. the GM still makes the decisions and she hasnt lived down the home wrecker reputation she has [and deserves]. a leopard cant change its spots and you can bet she WILL cause, or try to cause some firestorm at some point.
we have a ton of f/a money. we could and still can sign ANYONE we want right now, at least ones who would want to come here. and hickey knows how much cash the team has. he knows what the team needs and still wants to do in f/a so its not like aponte is running the show and hickey has to beg her for his allowance. she doesnt call hickey and philbin in and say, "ok boys, after watching last year play out, this is what we need to do with the team, i have a list of f/a players i like and already allotted the money for so go ahead and schedule them and we'll all meet at ruth crists for steak and some x and o talk. i told steven i needed the jet for a couple weeks so we can fly them in if need be".
if you LOVE or PRAISE or you HATE anyone, at this point it should be DENNIS HICKEY!!! no one needs a capologist to sign up a 3 mill a year guy when you have almost 40 mill [30 mill now] in cap money. hickey already knows how much they need to have for draft picks. so right now, aponte deserves NO credit, good or bad. wait untill the end of camp when we need to replace an injured player or add a proven vet to fill a hole. when the team no longer has 250 BILLION to spend. THAT is when a good capologist earns their check!!

I remember David Canter(Soliai's agent) sarcastically laughing out loud at a radio host who started a sentence with "If Starks isn't back....". He loudly just kept saying "WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN", continually interrupting the radio host. Said he was already gone and no chance in hell he would be back. Oh David.

I did not necessarily disagree with all that Canter said, but he was so unprofessional saying the **** he did as an agent. I will not miss him.
