Dolphins releasing Pat Devlin

I thought Devlin might have a chance early on, you never know. He got a little bit more comfortable and leveled off. I do not think he had the competitive fire or arm strength to be a starter.

Would have made more sense to drop lobato.

Im thinking they released Devlin early so he had a chance to catch on with another team. Out of courtesy. There's never been a chance of Lobato making the 53 on the fins or anywhere else and he knows that.

I'm pretty sure there was a poster on this forum proclaiming Devlin as our next franchise QB, and that he'd unseat Tannehill. I'm pretty sure he was serious, considering he kept this up for like a year.

The same poster openly wished injury on tannehill so old dev could "prove himself"

I'm kind of disappointed in that we devoted like 3 seasons into developing this guy. I think a lot of fans, myself included, thought he was going to take the next step and replace Matt Moore as the backup, and actually be.... an upgrade.... as our 2nd stringer. I didn't find him arrogant, I thought he had a good QB persona and I liked his skillset. I understand we have a new OC, so maybe he doesn't translate for Lazor, but it kind of sucks we wasted a roster spot and maybe could have held onto other developmental prospects.

In addition, Baltimore makes sense since He was on Deleware's roster with Flacco if memory serves correct. Probably gave him a recommendation.

That Lobato guy is horrible! Quinn is no better id rather have Moore as at least we know what he can or cannot do.

Entering his fourth year as the # 3 QB if he was going to challenge for #2 he would have done it by now. Not saying Brady Quinn is any better.

Who knows Moore might not be able to play and he has a high cap number. Moore will never be a good long term starter but at a lower price good backup

I've kinda got the impression that neither Devlin nor Moore were particularly good fits for the offense. I wouldn't be surprised if Moore is next man out.

I just think he has zero chance to make the ravens unless there is an injury.

Also remember that just because you're released doesn't mean you should clean out your locker. Just ask Brock Jensen and Cameron Marshall, you never know when a team might call you back in.

Ok now I might buy into the keep two quarterbacks on the 53 man roster theory. Put Lobato or someone else on the practice squad and have Quinn on speed dial.

Agreed, this release has made me a big time believer in the idea of two QBs for the 53. I guess Quinn could make the final roster, but I think they will probably end up rolling with just Tannehill and Moore.

I think those are different examples. IF we cut Devlin I doubt we bring him back

Teachers pet getting the boot? Honestly I hope we only carry two QB's.
