Dolphins sign Jamaal Westerman

Special teams guys. Will contribute..Every player cant be Cam Wake

He started most of the year once Bryan Thomas went down, except for a game where they tried out Garrett McIntre because he wasn't getting it done. He sucks vs the run and isn't anything special rushing the passer, he was a RFA and the Jets didn't tender him so obviously didn't care that he left.

Thanks Jetsfan. Sounds fair. The Jets didn't even tender him even though they have a desperate need for a pass rusher. That tells you all you need to know.

Watch out now...here comes the acorn...lol!!!

He started many games for you guys so he's not camp fodder. Misi had what 2 or 3 sacks.

The Dolphins reportedly agreed to terms with OLB Jamaal Westerman.

Westerman was non-tendered by the Jets after drawing three late-season starts opposite Calvin Pace. The Dolphins are flush with linebackers, and Westerman doesn't rush the passer. He'll play special teams in Miami.

Damn where's my Jersey guys?

I watched this kid his whole career at Rutgers....the kid can ball. Real tough kid, with a big heart and plays all out. He's a Schiano guy, loves to work hard and do the dirty work. And yes, he is better than Misi. Plays with anger too.

Give him more time on the field and he'll give us more than 3.5 sacks.

He will be lucky to survive the final cut...I look for him to be injured during the preseason and stashed on the practice squad for insurance. BOOK IT.

Just because we offload our Meatball, DeGuglielmo, Patrick Turner type trash on them shouldn't automatically obligate us to honor a reciprocal agreement. :idk:

whenever I watched the jets play last year and he was in there, he seemed like he was always around the qb. From Ft Laudy and went to Rutgers. He might take Mitchell's spot at reserve LB.

Some info on Westerman (from Pro Day):

Height - 6'2"
Weight - 257 lbs.
40 yard dash - 4.78
20 yard dash - 2.76
10 yard dash - 1.60
225 lb. bench reps - 20
Vertical jump - 36.5"
Broad jump - 10'2"
20 yard shuttle - 4.38
3 cone drill - 7.03

IMO, he is a back up who will primarily play special teams. Not a huge signing. Won't have a major role.

Decent guy. He can contribute on ST. Not a bad move.
