dolphins sign larry johnson

larry johnson was on fumes 2 years ago...this signing isn't just bad it's plum awful

Reggie Bush should be our #1. He looks great so far. It's like he has a burst of life ever since he's been here.
Dan Thomas should be our #2. He would be a good change of pace back.
Lex Hilliard has done nothing but give everything he has for this team. He's done a great job when they give him a chance. I dunno why they dont' use him more.
Patrick Cobbs was a great prospect, dunno why we got rid of him.
Sheets should be cut.
I don't see where Larry Johnson fits in this system. He's 32 years old. Why don't we bring back Larry Csonka?
L. Polite is a beast. One of the best football players we have on offense. He should be used to get the 1 yard when we need it. And he's one of the best blocking FBs in the game.

Are you kidding me?

This front office is clueless. Why not see if Priest Holmes or Jerry Rice is available too?

larry johnson...what the hell...worst decision in a long ever growing list of bad decisions

ireland must have been watching chiefs tape from 5 plus years ago...lj couldn't even get a sniff last year in washington in a backfield chock full of 30 pluses

Does anyone feel this is an indication of how the Dolphins feel about DT right now? Not happy?

I absolutely agree. Thomas hasnt shown he was worthy of a 2nd round pick. He is fast, but he doesnt break tackles and he doesnt pound the ball. Not sure why we drafted him....to be honest. I would have rather seen us keep Ricky and use that second round pick on Mallet (or another lineman or tight end).

Were any of you guys at the work outs ? They had Portis ,Tiki and Johnson in. Oviously this guy had the best workout. Personelly I would have gone with Tiki who had a running style closer to Bush and was great catching passes out of the back field.

The fact is Bush will probably miss games (history) We still need a backup for him unless Grigby gets it going.

Can we aat least give DThomas a "few" regular season games before we label him a waste of a pick??? These guys were locked out and lacking a playbook a couple weeks ago If I recall correctly...

I think its a good move he still has to fight for a spot. If cory wasnt making it we move on.

Yea, there is just no reason to get too worked up over this pick-up. Cripes, he took Sheets' place on the roster. Big deal, Sheets wasn't giving us much anyhow. He was not close to the player he was before his achilles injury. If LJ does not show something, he does not make the 53, and he ended up being camp fodder along with 25 other guys who get the axe.

I agree, and maybe it also sends a message to Thomas that he needs to pick up the pace a bit? After seeing how the RB situation has now played out, wouldn't it have been really nice to re-sign Ronnie or Ricky to a 1 year deal as soon as we had the chance? They provide far better depth than anyone we have now.

16 carries for 57 yards....3.5 ypc. You can't possibly judge anyone from only 16 carries let alone a rookie. The Johnson signing was all about depth and nothing more.

Shouldv'e just kept Ricky or Ronnie. It's not like this move is going to have a huge impact on the team, but it's still more ****in stupid planning on the part of the FO.

It isn't going to have a huge impact b/c it isn't supposed to. I'm glad you get it, sort of.

Over reaction

Unless Larry Johnson comes in and looks great this week he won't make the final 53 man roster. The Dolphins are not going to keep a number 3 or 4 back that can't play special teams. I think they will get Johnson familiar with the offense, release him and then put him on call if needed. For what it's worth I think the Dolphins are leaning toward keeping 3 backs: Bush, Thomas and Hillard.
