dolphins sign larry johnson

I like this move. I think that means Hilliard will be moved to FB and that Polite may be on his way out depending on if Clay is the TE or FB.

polite out that guy has been one of the blocking fullbacks for us in a long time, would not mind seeing him block for clay on a goal line run

I like the move too. It can't hurt for Bush and Thomas to learn a little from a guy like Johnson. I just hope that Hilliard does not move to the FB position. I don't think he is strong enough or has proven that he can carry that load. I love Polite, but I understand that he is taking up a roster spot in an offense that is not going to use him that much, but I think we have to keep him this year. If Polite was in on that 4th and goal play from the 1 against the Panthers on Friday, there would have been no doubt of him getting in. That's what he brings to the table. I hope they keep him one more year until Hilliard or Clay develop a little more.

Polite had a down year in 2010. His contract is rather big. I think he's expendable. Although I agree on waiting to see if Clay develops.

this guy is Great. He will help us. He should make the Pro-Bowl!

We needed a 3rd string running back and Sheets/Hilliard/Grigsby were not cutting it. If LJ is half the player he used to be, how can you hate this signing from a depth standpoint? You have Bush and Thomas carrying the load, and then you sprinkle in LJ from time to time.

Plus as a Penn State fan, I love seeing the continued growth of Nittany Lions on the team. Worst case scenario is he gets cut after the final preaseason game.

It is kinda funny how a guy who is signed for depth is viewed as a negative thing on here

If he lives up to his contract, I agree. He sure didn't last year. Could have been just a down year. I'm not saying cut him now.

That's where you're wrong. Your mocking this website is off base considering 90% of the site is negative no matter what the topic.

If LJ does not show something within the 1st week, expect him to not reach the final preseason game, Miami needs someone they can count on to back up Thomas and Bush.

They cut Sheets and then sign Johnson. I'd say it's more to do with Sheets and the depth on the team vs anything related to Thomas

I agree, and maybe it also sends a message to Thomas that he needs to pick up the pace a bit? After seeing how the RB situation has now played out, wouldn't it have been really nice to re-sign Ronnie or Ricky to a 1 year deal as soon as we had the chance? They provide far better depth than anyone we have now.

Other than what I saw from Bush in the 1st half vs Carolina, we should be worried about our RB options, DT in my opinion is a less powerfull version of a healthy LJ, and behind THIS Oline, and with the less than spectacular lead of our FBs, holes are scarce. If Sparano finally manages to find his Oline, and by some miracle either Clay, Polite, or Hilliard can somehow try to emulate what Vontae Leach did for Arian Foster last year, then our running game might have a chance. It just seems year after year Sparano runs his RBs against a brick wall over the middle play after play, and there is no one who will consistently come out of that wall with positive yardage...
