Dolphins sign LB Willie Gay

I don't see that at all. Britt is a clone of Elandon Roberts. Gay is more similar to Dodson. His strengths are speed and athleticism. They could both make the team as replacements for Walker and Riley. I think we often carried 5 with poor ole Tindall being the 5th.
if this signing means we finally bite the bullet on tindall and send him packing, that might make it worthwhile. tindall was another combine warrior that was off the charts, but can't play football. he couldn't even start in college for crying out loud, it should have been obvious there is was an issue with the guy. at this point, no idea why people are geeked about about what willie gay did at the combine in terms of athletic metrics. he has been in the league a long time now, so we know what he is. in my view, the focus should no longer be on his combine metrics, but should be on his capabilities on the field. same issue with pat paul too, we know he is a monster with long arms. but you have to be able to play football. heck same can be said of zach wilson, off the charts at combine. can he play football? ultimately that is what matters. when someone has had a long career, like gay, the combine metrics are irrelevant. i would look at his actual on field metrics in the NFL, and focus on those. i will fully admit i know nothing about the guy. am just saying i would focus on on field performance over combine metrics. color me skeptical, because anyone still on the market at this point is not highly sought after, so there are clearly warts all over the guy. what they are, i have no idea.

I felt the same but was thinking more of it being no more Duke Riley.

He never said anything about combine metrics….

Tindall is fine as the 5th lb on a rookie deal. Ideally though he’d pass up one of these jag vets in the rotation. Worst case specials. Can lose him after his rookie deal expires he’s dirt cheap now anyways.

That is unless we draft something at off ball better. Then one of these jag vets or Tindall can kick rocks.

I hope Britt plays lights out and stays at a HOF level, if you're right. My toxic masculinity won't let me wear the other guy's jersey if the inverse happens.

Who would be more brave? The fan who shows up for a game at Hard Rock wearing an Eichenberg jersey or the guy wearing a Gay jersey? If your last name is Gay, you automatically have to be something of a badass. Imagine how many fights he got into growing up just due to his name. Makes me think of that old Johnny Cash song, A Boy Named Sue. One of the all-time greatest rodeo bull riders was a guy only about 5'7 and 165 lbs named Don Gay. I remember the camera looking down at him in the chute getting ready and taking a suicide wrap with his bull rope and thinking that pound for pound there couldn't be many tougher men than Don Gay of Mesquite, Texas.

Tindall usually looks great in the preseason playing ILB. You'd think he has finally turned the corner in his development. Then the regular season comes and it's STs or nothing. In some ways, I'd like to see them take off his life vest and throw him into the deep end of the pool so to speak. Sink or swim. Fish or cut bait. Make him the full-time starter next to Brooks and as long as all his body parts remain intact, never leave the field on defense. I wonder how things would turn out. Better than most suspect is my guess. Moot point though, most likely.

Yeah if you can’t break tbis top 3 off ball lb level you probably can’t break any.

But I’ve said before let’s see Tindall in a sink or swim role. Just to see if there’s anything there. But outside of some spotty use as a qb spy as a rookie which produced some meh results it hasn’t happened.

Obviously not showing them much in camp/practice.

Tindall was a positionless player on college tape. More package nickel than anything and qb spy projection wise than every down off ball backer. Drafting that on day 2 is never smart.
They drafted the athlete.

Su
affirmative but he still has all that jazz & raw athletic upside...

I've seen the dude running chickens down in the parking lot!

Beyond that -- it's not fair to count failures around here.
Such an easy bust to project, Jesus

Nick Bolton?

(Unless you were referring to college)
Bolton is an absolute animal, before he resigned with KC i was dreaming about signing him.

Hes a leader and high IQ player.

Losing Bolton would have seriously weakened the Chiefs, hes the heart and QB of the Chiefs defense.
