Dolphins sign shelley

Hard to complain about that deal.

Productive day for the Dolphins. Starting guard and nickel corner. Presumably would like one more starter on the offensive line in FA.

This is an excellent signing & one I've been calling for. Unfortunately we've dragged our feet & there's not another capable starting guard or tackle our there outside of Strief (who declined to visit) & Incognito (who is exiled).

Great news especially for the downers on here.

Very good signing. He runs great and has a natural knee bend, great for pulling. Will be fun to see him and Pouncey pull on sweeps which is what Lance Louis was supposed to bring last year.

A nickle corner? For the money he's getting he needs to start and play well.

Ozzy rules!!

Dude signs contract with fins, then goes to get married, two weddings in one day, Boss.

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 9s

No conference call for Shelley Smith. He's on the way to his own wedding!

Zach Martin at RT and we are set for a few years.

Zach Martin should be our target...versatile lineman who could man right tackle from day one....probably be a pro bowl guard down the road. I'd like to see Billy Turner drafted for right side.

Albert, Zach Martin, Pouncey, Smith & Turner

Why hasn't any free-agent that signed somewhere else re-sign with their own team?

The reason gives insight on what you're getting, for instance, was it about money and was a cap casualty, was it because of health- are we getting damaged goods, are the Rams deep at the position and he wasn't needed was he getting old, .....etc...

From what gforce posted, he was a back up who got playing time when Long went out and Safford moved over to take Longs position.....that's good news, he stepped up when called upon and did the job, he is young and will work hard to win the starting job.....that's how I look at it anyways.....to me the reason is important....

Even better news he won't be running around trying to pick up strippers at the club during meetings.......well I least I hope not lol

Is this guy any good? if so why didn't the Rams resign him? If he is good I can say I honestly believe this team is now as good or slightly better than last years team just 1 week into FA with the draft still ahead......feeling better each day about this team.......

i believe it was a scheme fit. i don't know what the Rams run, but this guy is suited for a zone blocking scheme. that's why we targeted him.

i like people who visit the patriots, leave, come here, and sign on the dotted line. f#ck the f#cking patriots where they eat.

Guard Shelley Smith, formerly of the Rams, agrees with Dolphins. 2 years, $5.5m. More Miami OL reinforcements.

Mike Garafolo ‏@MikeGarafolo 1m

Two years, $5.5m with $1.5m guaranteed for G Shelley Smith in his deal with the Dolphins, source says.

Wow. That's backup money. I want to be happy but have to wonder at that rate is he considered a starter?

well there's a body for camp but that contract says that he's not a guaranteed starter...which is what it should be...come to camp and compete...and work on that pass pro
