Don't bet against Berlin

Brock Berlin impressed me a lot in the game. He played a lot better than AJ Feeley, thats for sure. Brock Berlin will be awesome in 4-5 years from now. Gus will be gone in 5 years, AJ will be gone at the end of this season most likely, and Sage may go elsewhere.....so look for Brock to be a future guy...he is pretty damn good if u ask me, he's very underrated. Id play him with the 2nd stringers next game, then the 1st stringers against Pittsburgh to see how well he can do...he has LOTS of potential. If i was Saban, and i had to cut ONE of our QBs, id cut AJ and keep Berlin on the squad.

LOL if you arent kidding then there is something wrong with you. Right now AJ is way better than Brock. WAY better. Comparing boths play Monday against each other is laughable, comparing brocks success against a defense where most of teh players wont be on teh Bears team in 2 to 3 weeks to AJ playing against teh 1st string and a couple pro bowlers is ridiculous.

I do liek some things I see from Brock and think it may be possible for him tto develop, I would liek to see him catch on with us. a couple years learning and developing could prove fruitfull. But he isnt anywhere near as ready as AJ is right now.

No, he looked horrible. No zip on the ball, never looked to the right side of the formation on pass plays, locked into recievers way too much, and never looked at the coverage. He can not play at this level, heck he barely made it at UM, the only reason he was starting was they didnt have anyone else.

He had plenty of zip and didn't exactly lock on the receiver as much.

Brock Berlin's biggest strength is his accuracy. He's always been an accurate passer, completing more than 61% of his pass attempts at the college level. He also showed me that he puts nice zip on some of his throws.

There is no doubt that he has a long way to go, but he does have a good, accurate arm to work with.

What amazes me is that most of you who like to criticize Brock Berlin are the very ones that were salivating at the idea of drafting Adrian McPherson. Now, someone explain that to me. Berlin is and has always been a FAR BETTER quarterback than Adrian McPherson.

Thank you!

Agreed as of today

You actually agree with that ******, I've never seen him say something intelligent on this site ever.

Please dont put him on the ps.He is doin weel right now.Put sage on it.

Miami’s BROCK BERLIN (South) -- has some trouble getting the ball into small windows and with the overall velocity of his intermediate-to-deep throws… works best from the shotgun formation… does not make quick enough reads when dropping back from under center… will float a few of his pass attempts, which can allow for turnovers… average sized… has only mediocre athleticism, which keeps him from creating too many big plays out of the pocket… shows some toughness and intangibles in terms of bouncing back from a number of big hits and streaky play, while in college… likely to see action late in the third or possibly the whole fourth quarter in Saturday’s game… smaller build in the chest and upper body… would do well for himself to bulk up over time… type of guy that could work his way into being a future #2, but right now is more of a #3 guy who would need time to develop in a new system and likely spend a season overseas in NFL Europe…
something else on brock...

Let's not start crowning Brock Berlin just yet, but I do think he's worth a shot to keep as a number three over Sage.

Let's face it - Sage isn't going to do anything for us. Why keep teasing the guy. Let him go somewhere else and see what he can do. Brock is probably nothing, but he does have the tools and could develop someday into a solid QB! So why not give him a shot.

I mean - if we really have to depend on our third-string QB this year, we are in for a world of hurt. So why not give the spot to a young guy who COULD develop into a solid QB someday, rather than give it to a guy who is simply taking up a roster spot.

Agreed. I don't think Sage is going to get much better than he is now so why not give his spot to someone who is playing similarly well but has a lot of upside and learning to do?

wasnt trying to make him look bad, just calling it like I saw it. I hope Berlin does well. I don't think he will anytime soon, but a year or so on the practice squad and he might find his way to an NFL roster somewhere.
However, I think its ridiculous that some people are suddenly oohing and aahing over a guy because of his performance against scrubs in a preseason game. People are saying he's better than Sage, or Feeley without taking into account the quality of the defense he was playing against.

While you can say this, take into account the quality of the offensive players that were playing around Berlin. He may have been against the third or fourth string defense of the Bears but he had our third or fourth string players surrounding him also to balance that out.

I would cut feeley and have brock number three in a heart beat, AJ just is not getting better

i bet for him Hwne he played for the Canes not now though its a long shot he beats out Rosenfels

we all have our own opinions......and if u all are so right, then why did Miami go 4-12 last year??? Everything i said they shoulda done, they didnt do...and they went 4-12. The years before where they went 10-6, i was practically agreeing with most of what they did. The way some people on this site think, if they were coach, we'd be 2-14 or 1-15. I mean come on, it makes SO MUCH sense to have 5 decent runningbacks on the team and not ONE decent QB...it also makes so much sense to have 6-7 awesome defensive lineman, but a poor secondary. Sure having depth is good, but the backups dont start, its like having Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on the same team, why do u need both of them???...david bowens is good, but he wont start, nor will sammy morris, nor will larry chester IF kevin carter and keith traylor take his spot. So whats the point of having backups, why dont u invest that money into a solid QB which we are desperate for, or a solid Center???

Instead of drafting Ronnie Brown when we already have 4 other runningbacks who are darn good...we should have traded for #11 and #20, and drafted someone like Antrel Rolle if he was still available, and David Baas. Ive never seen a runningback win a super bowl, but ive seen a dominant offensive line win a super bowl. The only good thing we did with our O-line so far is sign McDougle and Middleton. Give Hadnot and Carey a chance, but frankly...we shoulda signed a dominant Center in the Free Agent market.

PatsSuck456, i love ur user-name and im not bashing you or anybody...but i personally believe that what i say is good information. We had a solid defense already, and an offense that needed major work...yet Saban went totally for defensive players. After watching the Bears game, i didnt see much difference in our defense. I saw our offense improve a little. Adding Gus was a start, but we need to focus on offensive lineman more than anything. A good coach in Hudson Houck is a start, but our Center and Left Guard need lots of change.

IMO:)

4 other running backs that are darn good? Like who?
Gordon was injured but it was hoped he would be good.
Morris was OK...wouldnt say "darned good". Struggled last year
Minor is Minor. OK 3rd down back, special teamer.

Who else was there????

I admit, Brock was impressive in his first Dolphin game. Yes, it was against 3rd and 4th stringers and the interception was a terrible decision. But still he made a lot of good throws and got himself in the mix with Sage for the 3rd qb position. I didn't follow his college career too closely so I don't have negative impressions going in like a lot of other fans. And I have to see more, but it was a good beginning.

Dude, I urge you to go back and watch the game. He basically snaped the ball and looked dead at the wr he was throwing too about every time! Also, he has never had good zip on the ball, ask any Cane fan. I know you want a UM product to suceed with the fins but this isnt the one. Sorry!

I am pulling for him. Yes there are things with him, that need work, but his poise, and command impressed me, and I hope he makes the team if he keeps on playing well!
