dont drink the matt moore kool aid

no Devlin?

Devlin looked about the same as John Beck in his first game. We'll give him a pass last night ... no training camp & a crappy Offense.

Now the question of all QBs ... can he climb the learning curve & not get stuck on it ... pre-season will give us a clue. Go Devlin, we need ya!!

Sat 1:00 PM Miami Dolphins at Atlanta Falcons NFL Network

Moore looked good. I'm definitely drinking the Kool-Aid.

Henne looked like the Henne of last year, the Henne who lost two games for us by throwing interceptions on what would have been game-winning drives.

Also, I'm very happy with Benny Sapp. He led the team in interceptions last year, and I was pleasantly surprised to see him make one last night.

Last night I sniffed the aroma, next week hopefully I will swish it in my mouth, and hopefully then down it.

If this kid keeps this up he will start and I will have some hope for the season.

Henne continues stare down his recievers , Lets give Moore a shot with the 1st team and see what he can do. We already know what we have with Henne.

Matt Moore was not better than henne last night. Horrible that he could not beat that performance.

And yet he's a favorite among the players who get hated on for no particular reason. I guess the people are just bitter we traded Camarillo for him?

I wasn't impressed my Matt Moore at all. Not saying he wasn't produtive in his stint, but his quarterbacking skills aren't aesthetically pleasing at all.

Also pretty much anyone involved with covering and analyzing football has said Matt Moore is worse than Henne and nothing more than a backup.

I agree with you about not sticking with the same old crap but we don't really have a better option. Just more of the same or possibly even worse.

Henne is nothing more than a back up, hate to break it to ya. Miami is just dumb enough to keep starting ChadBot. At least Matt Moore will make some plays to go along with his bad ones. Henne is stuck in "game manager mode" and he can't even do that right. If Henne had any talent to be groomed out, Henning destroyed it.

And what do these "experts" aka glorified fans know about anything. Matt Moore has had limited real game experience. Much less than Henne. He's shined at times, and been bad at times (WITH CAROLINA) he's in Miami with a diff OC and a diff playbook.

Are you actually saying you'd rather stick with the same bag of crap to avoid possibly walking upon a new one? For all you know there could be a rare gem inside that next bag of crap. Yes unlikely, but we don't have a better option.

As long as Moore keeps making plays and Henne keeps making blunders he should win the job, simple as that.

I'm not seeing what everyone else saw either. Moore's happy feet would have gotten him killed against a real defense. Henne looks a lot more comfortable in the pocket but unfortunately made one of his usual boneheaded throws.

I think he will be fine but how that first quarter played out looked exactly like last year. I start the game off screaming, then eventually it turns into laughing with every comical play and error that occurs.

Hope I can take these Phins seriously this year, but laughing does help if you guys haven't tried it ;)

I don't get how people are still making excuses for Henne.

The fact is Moore looked good.Fact is it was against 2nd stringers. That is the argument some us. Which is true it was against 2nd stringers, that is a fact.

Henne was below average against the starting defense of Atlanta. Fact is, until the 2nd string defense came in for Atlanta Henne did nothing. His TD and decent play came against the 2nd stringers.

So what I saw was our starting QB struggle against a starting defense, then looked decent against 2nd string defense.

So those of you using the 2nd stringers as an excuse to not get excited over Moore... Guess what???

Moore did better against the 2nd stringers then Henne did. So what does that tell you?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! LOL what needs to happen is Moore needs to start against a starting defense. That is it. Henne already struggled against a non-impressive starting defense. Now it's Moores turn. He needs to play and start against a starting defense.

With that said, it is still hard to truly judge Henne based on last nite. He wasn't impressive nor good at all. However, Marshall and Bush and Long are oviously big parts of this offense. He didn't have them. However, he has to still play under those circumstances.

I would say Moore, if there was a legit competition has the slight advantage in performance, but only because he did better against backups then Henne did.

The issue is you don't bench your starter when the backup was only slightly better. So Henne would be winning right now.

Henne's TD to Hartline? Nice play, but I would hope a QB can hit a wide open WR when there was blown coverage. Backups can do that like Moore did. The only difference is Moore actually hithis WR in stride on his TD. Correct me if I am wrong. Didn't Hartline have to slow down or stop for his? This isn't meant to be a knock necessarily on Henne. I don't know the play call, but it looked like Hartline wasn't hit in stride. Regardless it was a TD so KUDOS to Henne for finally hitting a wide open WR

I was work so i DIDN'T get to see the whole game =(

I didn't see happy feet with Moore. He was bouncing alot lol I guess. But to me happy feet is always moving for the sake of moving and running when there is no need to not just bouncing. Moore moved when he needed to. I would hope a QB would move when he needed to. Also, having Happy feet wouldn't end with Moore getting slammed on that TD he threw either. So I don't get how he had happy feet. Looked like he moved when he needed to and stayed when he needed to

So can you please give examples of his happy feet? When did he scramble when he didn't need to? etc?

Henne hit Hartline in stride. I think they both played equally well.. against Atlanta's backups. The difference to me was that Moore looked like he was in survival mode out there.

Regardless of what everyone on here is going to say, we need more than one preseason game to throw Moore in there ahead of Henne, but it was a nice start for him regardless as awkward as he looked.

How about a full season of 19 picks to only 15 TDs?

I'm ready to see Matt Moore with the first team starting next week. We don't have a lot of time.

As far as Moore starting against formidable defenses.. when he went 4-1 with a 98+QBR in 09 (which in 5 starts, his 4 winscomprised 50% of Carolina's wins that year:

Minnesota, division champ, deep into the playoff
win: 21-33, 299yds, 3 TDs, 0 ints

Saints: division champ and superbowl team
Win: 14-23, 162yds, 1 TD zero ints

Giants:
8-8 team with better than avg D
Win: 15-20, 171 yds, 2TDs, zero ints

Pats: 10-6 team
Loss (20-10) 15-30, 197yds, 1TD, zero ints

TB: 3-13 team
win: 14-20, 161 yds, 0TD, 1int\

screw second team defense arguments.. when Moore was on his game where it actually counted..., he was beating teams playing hard for playoff spots with top rated defenses. IMO, he looked good last night, but the real litmus test was playing well for a club that ended up 8-8 and mostly beating teams who in 08 were anything but creampuffs.

Now can he reenter that zone? Hard to say, but he's actually been there and done that - at least for a limited timeframe, so IMO , arguing that he's in over his head at this point doesn't resonate.
