With the same pick Miami received from Arizona for Kenyan Drake, the team traded to San Francisco for Matt Breida. Breida has averaged a robust 5.0 yards per carry in his NFL career, but also in a great system for a running back. Seems like an equal trade IMO. Certainly helps make up for missing on a great group of running backs in this draft.

I think if you put Drake on the 49ers he looks just as good as Breida if not slightly better. We'll probably get about the same kind of production out of Breida.
Just catch easy balls, pick up short yardage 1st downs and don’t fumble. That’s all I’m looking for from the RBs this year especially after last years disaster at RB.

Drake was used so poorly in Miami. Hopefully we do a better job with Breida
You can make the case he should have gotten more touches, but you can also make the case that he could not do the things Gore could do.

He also had a propensity to fumble, or drop easy 1st down passes with the game on the line. He also had a lot of plays for no gain or a loss, when there was a sure 4 yds to be had.

He wasn't horrible, and he had good speed, but he wasn't great either.

 Cardinals sure are happy with him. 8 TDs in 8 games. 0 in 6 games in Miami last year

That's fine.

Like I said, he had positives. I just don't think he was anything special.

He also made the most memorable play in my entire time as a Dolphin fan.

But hey, its fine to disagree, I am aware i'm in the minority on Drake - but I still think Miami failed to use him properly

I really hope Ballage isn’t brought to camp. Don’t want anyone to catch his suckage.

Yeah dude is still the most athletically gifted out the entire RB group, I'm still hoping he can harness the potential behind an improved offensive line. He wasn't terrible his first year so we will see what happens

I'm still bitter to this day we broke up Ajayi,Drake, and Landry. Ascending Talents that sure as hell would have looked good playing with Tua right now.

Ajayi was the strong ox that could wear down defenses and I think drake is a really great third down back.. Could have been a nasty combination if the buffoon Gase could have put his ego aside..

I still will never forget him describe Ajayi " You don't always have to hit homeruns, sometimes you just need base hits"This was the season right after he became the leading rusher in the 2nd half of the previous year but i guess he hit too many homeruns.. He then lucked out that drake was a good runner which he proceeded to underutilize his entire time..

God i'm so glad he is gone.

On a good team Laird and Gaskin barely make the practice squad.
You may be right, but last season our O-line was so bad that none of the RBs had much of a chance to showcase their talent. With the significant investment made to improve the O-line via the Draft (Jackson, Hunt, Kindley) and the addition of free agents (Flowers, Karras), I'd be interested to see what Laird and Gaskin can do in preseason games. For a little guy, Gaskin was deceptively hard to bring down and Laird did some nice things, too. Ballage will probably get cut.
