Edds is a Patriot

just another example of us not developing players we drafted - especially those with tremendous upside. at least we've expanded this philosophy from WR and DT to the other positions.

Do you guys think he'll stick there or is he a 1 week pickup to pry information out of?? Either way this turned out terrible for us.

I think he could be a Ninkovich. A player that sticks with them and "could" be a surprise next year. I think he is better than Spittler, but hey ... Ireland should know better ... wait ... Jerry, Colombo, Grove, Wilson, McQuistan .. maybe he don´t

The Patriots can afford to let Edds sit another year and be patient with him until he's all the way back from the knee surgery and a year more used to the NFL. Then again, the Dolphins could have probably afforded to do that too if they'd really wanted to, so...

Yeah because their D has been such a force the last 3 years.

I hate this kind of talk. Did you see the last game of the season last year? We didn't even score a point against them until less than three minutes left in the game. I'm glad that the offensive coaches of Miami will show more respect for their "D" than you do.

I love the move. He was projected as a 4-3 strongside OLB coming out of college which is what Ninkovich plays in the Pats' 4-3. IF he can stay healthy he can be a solid rotational player and maybe challenge Nink for playing time. I'm liking how the LB depth is shaping up.

I have to say I would be much more upset if we kept Edds and they signed Marlon Moore

Must be nice to have a plan :(

This is more evidence that the Phins have a stronger and better roster than the Pats. The only thing separating the 2 teams is a better coach and an established franchise QB.

it's not evidence of that at all. Edds won't be a starter and the team needed LB depth. At this point Dane Fletcher, Gary Guyton and even Rob Ninkovich are better players than him.

and a franchise QB and excellent head coach are the 2 most important things a team needs

I wish they would Frame that on the front page of Finheaven for everyone to read everyday. Dont understand how people dont get that.

the dolphins had a plan to updrage their LB position and did it with Burnett.
Not worried about the starters, Worried about the lack of ability to develop young players. Has haunted us for some time. Its to the point they are not even trying anymore.

you know what i find funny...its talk like this that makes me think you guys look at the season like its madden or something and you can just turn the injuries off or something...like they don't happen all the damn time...we need the best depth we can find...its not just no big deal when you cut guys who aren't even finished products and have shown a nose for the ball and solid instincts while you keep a guy in spitler who has no clue..its ****ing stupid is what it is

Dr Brophy of Washington Uni and asst doctor to the Rams did a study of impact of injuries on NFL players career prospects.

ACL injuries significantly affected NFL prospects for defensive linemen and linebackers (P<0.05), though there were trends suggesting an effect on running backs, tight ends, and offensive linemen, too.

Analyzed separately, reconstruction of knee ligament tears significantly worsened chances of playing in the NFL for linebackers and linemen on both sides of the ball.

AJ Edds did not just have an ACL injury, he completely ruptured the ligament. I don't think he damaged his meniscus, which would have made things even worse, but linebackers and major ACL tears are not happy bedfellows. It sucks for Edds but the odds are not in favour of him being a productive NFL player and Miami doesn't have the need or luxury to keep him around while we all find out if a good young guy beats the odds, especially when he wasn't very athletic to start with.

We did not waste talent or picks. We cut our losses on an injured player.

I thought if any recent Phins draft pick was going to get cut it would have been Jerry. Edds has some potential so I was surprised they let him go so soon.
