Egnew: How long will he survive under a new GM

Is it really Egnew can't play or is he in the wrong system and not being utilized correctly? How many times was he the number one read for this offense in the redzone? I would think a TE with his height, weight, and hands would be a great redzone target, but that's just me!

Well, if you watched Egnew at Missouri, he was never able to separate there, either. He made his living on tough, contested catches. You almost never saw him get what you'd really consider "open", especially for the Big 12, where it seems like everybody is open. Running routes and getting open is about more than being big and fast. It's about using your hands and great timing and a bunch of other stuff. He never showed that in college and he still doesn't show it. At some point it's time to admit he'll never show it.

I like the idea of him as a red zone target, though. I've said that many times. Nobody gets open in the red zone, especially the tight red zone. It's about physical dominance and making a tough catch. Despite Egnew's reputation for being soft, as I said, making the tough catches is something he does very well. I absolutely think he has untapped potential as a red zone target.

Honestly, who cares? Backup tight end, complete bum, hast performed in two seasons.

Sims is speedy, can block, catch, did I say that he can BLOCK! No way Eggnooo is a better TE. I think he'll get one season this year and then they'll evaluate him.

:rolleyes2:
I can tell EGG this he better be praticing all off season and he better hope he can come into camp and play like Tony Gonzolas or atleast some where close , or he will be gone , but i think if he was worked with , he has the body type and size to be a very very good TE in this league , i just hope he gets somebody to help work with him in the off season ...hes going to have to want this ,to make it work.....

Don't worry. The Patriots will pick him up, coach him up and he will be an All-Pro for years to come...:rolleyes2:

We need to draft Ebron, Amaro, Niklas, one of those guys. Don't care where we draft them. I want to see a big bodied athlete running wild down the seam. Would open up so much for this team.

Julius Thomas (Denver) really did not break out until this season (his 3rd).

Lets see what hopefully what a creative/adaptable OC can do before some of you chase Egnew out of town.

Come on we don't need to give every player three years to develop. What miami needs to have a few players that do not take that long.

He wouldnt have lasted through his first camp with a good GM. That being said, unless he makes a huge leap, the kind Clay made, hes gone

Now that Ireland is gone, how long will Egnew survive before he is cut? The only reason he was on the team last year is that Ireland could not afford to publicly admit that he had missed on another third round pick.

I think a lot of you under estimate Egnew. He's going to surprise a lot of people. Fix the OL and have the new OC involve the TE more and (IMO) you'll see a very effective Egnew.

My prediction. If we let him go, some other team will use him very effective and members on the blog will B**** about letting another good player go.

Hopefully the new OC will tap into that potential, because no he's not a seem threat TE type.
