Empty Stadium

I was at the game and many people prefer to gather pregame and at the break in air conditioned comfort. There are decent places to eat and have a drink before going outside in the heat. I know it sounds soft but it is human nature to prefer some physical comfort. The crowd of over 70000 was in attendance but you also saw a lot of space at certain times. Over 25% of the crowd are taking a leak at half time and many are slow in returning to their seats.

There's nothing unsafe about that neighborhood for dolphin games, and the location is the best available. Why don't you go to panther games? They have a nice little stadium right there in sunrise? Why? because they don't win! I don't hear much talk about how the neighborhood near the triple A sucks, Why?

To be fair, the Florida Panthers don't do too bad in the attendance department if you look at the percentage full number as opposed to total attendance. Panther games in Sunrise are right at 90% full despite the fact that the Panthers aren't winning (their time is coming soon). People go to Panther games, enjoy going to Panther games and want to go to Panther games because they can get out of the dreadful South Florida heat.

You won't hear about a bad neighborhood at the AAA because it's in South Beach. That's a totally different neighborhood than Joe Robbie lol. I'll take my chances at 3:00AM near the AAA than at 3:00AM in some of the neighborhoods near Joe Robbie. I'll pass on the Marlins Stadium neighborhood location as well.

One major problem is the orange seats. Most of the merchandise sold is white and aqua. Look rough the pro shop and there is a small smattering of orange shirts. The orange seats stick out like a sore thumb when empty. See the photo below. Winning will fill the seats along with the upcoming stadium changes. Also,me seats will be changes to aqua. That will help empty seats be a little less obvious.

I was just about to post this very thing. The orange seats really stick out.

I think part of the renovation plan is to replace the orange seats with blue ones. I think that will help reduce he appearance of an empty stadium

i was there. first game. seemed packed to me, loud as hell.

hopefully, will continue to get better. I know for one I will be going to more games this season, and plan on buying season tix next yr.

if you're a jets fan, or complaining from out of town, I don't think anyone wants to hear it. actions speak louder than you coming on here and posting that if you lived in town you'd be at every game.

I was there. There were about 5-7,000 empty seats. It is true that people are late arriving and disappear at half time but at its fullest there were noticeable empty seats. If they sold 70,000 odd tix out of a 75,000 capacity with a couple of thousand no shows it sounds about right. It was a good crowd but certainly not totally full.

The orange seats stand out, but they are still empty. Almost every NFL stadium I go to has a good number of empty seats even when they are sold out - Seattle last week was an exception where there were no more than 300 empty seats. These days, with teams selling season tickets to people who have plenty of money, and a lot of club seats at each stadium sold to sponsors, there are a lot of no shows in almost every NFL stadium.

BTW the reason the Orange bowl always looked full is because of the bench style seating - someone sitting down hides the view of the seat behind them so it looks full even when it isn't - this is why the college stadiums with bleachers always look full even after half time when people are still out the back.

The best thing about the new stadium is the lower capacity. At 65,000 we will probably be pretty full assuming we are doing well.

No it's not south beach, it's downtown. Walk 3 blocks west of the triple a and its cracktown. And the Panthers aren't at 90 percent capacity ever. Well maybe if the rangers, Canadiens, or mapleleafs are in town. The point Is if you win people will come. If you don't they won't.

Really? I don't want to be caught in either area at 3am.

AAA is NOT in South Beach. It is on Biscayne Blvd. If you cross Biscayne Blvd and walk down 6th (AAA is at the corner of Biscayne and 6th) for a couple hundred feet you are in a crappy neighborhood big time. The port traffic used to go that way to I395 and it was quite scary for tourists even in the morning hours when disembarking. Now the port has a tunnel from and to I395.

I think Cane knows AAA is not actually on South Beach. The original Heat stadium was only two blocks from the railroad tracks and Overtown. THAT was a dangerous place to be late at night but AAA is not bad. Marlin's stadium is not either as long as you habla espanol :)

OK. Then do me a favor. Start at AAA, cross Biscayne Blvd and walk into Park West and the Overtown neighborhood at 3am in the morning (it is less than a 5 min walk). Come back and report.

Two more things:
a) the comparison is not Miami Arena and AAA safety but Sun Life Stadium safety in comparison to AAA.
b) Miami Arena was not in Liberty City but in Overtown. About 3 or 4 blocks east of the AAA. About a 10 minute walk.

Speaking of the stadium looking empty.

I had already changed it to overtown . My mistake duh. It's been a while but i worked in that area for about 10 years. Just like most stadiums in major cities a few blocks in the wrong direction can mean trouble. Ever been to Yankee stadium ?
I live in GA now. I would rate all Miami sports places saver than the ones in Atlanta. Never stopped me from going to an event in either city.

Canes played Arkansas St. Not exactly a big draw. They should fill the place when they play FSU later on.

I never said that any of our venues down here are unsafe. I just disputed the fact that AAA is sooooo much safer than Sun Life. Either place is safe yet with either place if you walk 10 min into the wrong direction you do not want to be there at 3am in the morning. That was my point.
