Espn roster rankings

Yeah, that part raised a flag for me. Not sure how Vernon, who had 11.5 sacks last season, is considered a "below average starter". At worst he is an average starter or slightly above average. I know he had success being opposite Wake, but 11.5 sacks is not something you just easily dismiss.

Though having the 13th overall ranked roster seems pretty good to me. Patriots have the 6th, the Bills have the 20th and the Jets have the 23rd.

I agree. For the most part, I think it's a very respectable ranking. That's the only one that is bad. I think Misi's could be better too

thanks for posting this. i agree with the ratings for the most part except vernon is better than a below average starter to me. i would also swap the ratings on jones / delmas at safety. jones is more of the average-type and delmas slightly above average because he has made more plays. ellerbe could also be argued as an average starter.

CK must have had a hand in his rating.

He should be in the, at a minimum, light green.

Kinda funny that HUGE sports company like ESPN would put up PFF's Rankings in place of doing their own. Guess they differ with some posters here on how legit PFF is.

In PFF's Dolphins depth chart which I poster earlier, OV was rated a average. No idea why this is different. The reason for that was because they graded him on his 929 snaps as opposed to the 11 on which he had sacks. He was average on the run and below average on the pass (overall).

1. ESPN is lazy as ****

2. ESPN is huge, but most on here would agree that they are far from credible....

1. Yeah lazy enogh to help build a Billion dollar empire from putting frog jumping contests on.

2. Yeah, many here would argee that everyone is far from credible, other than their own opinion.

You do what you need to do to justify the cost of PFF (why did you need to bring up what you did in your post)....I just see too many discrepancies for my liking...

I have no need to justify what I pay for PFF, FH, and Over the cap, as I believe they are all well worthwile for whatever I choose to pay.

Who do you like, if anyone other than yourself?

Interesting, and it seems pretty spot on to me. I think a lot of people are going to have problems with OV, but to be honest he is still learning and there is close to a 50/50 chance Jordan beats him out for the starting position by the end of camp. Some get too caught up in the sack numbers, much like Pace for the jets, but some times that just comes down to being in the right place at the right time.

I guess my biggest problem would be with Pouncey, he should be up a spot IMO. My 2nd biggest problem is Shelley being considered an average starter. No way he is average, he is WAAAY below average and will only be on the roster to help in GL and short yardage. Not starting quality.

OTC is good....but that is all fact based...

Why do I need to like any of them...again they are just offering their opinion as we are...

Pouncey was the #1 center in the NFL in pass blocking but, #21 on the run. Gotta take everything into consideration. Shelly was bad in pass blocking but, great on the run. It averages out. Smoth has not played enough for anyone to have a read on him. That will come this year, and I do like him, as the 3rd OL signed, not the second. It is what it is.

You don't, no one does. However, you have to realize that there are many who know much more than most, and their opinions are held in much higher regard, whitch I believe should be respected.

Disagreeing with them is fine but, discounting them and calling them a waste and nonsense is silly.

Miami Dolphins, NFL’s 13th Most Talented Roster?

The Dolphins are the 13th most talented roster in the NFL, according to an article published on ESPN Insider. The Perpetual Mediocre Miami Dolphins (Their full team name, at this point) — averaging 7 wins over the last four seasons — are essentially a playoff-caliber team in relation to their talent.
They ranked each projected starter ranging from “elite” to “average” to “rookie” and the Dolphins graded high, especially on the offensive side of the football. Check out their findings below:

Not saying I agree with this but the player ratings are pretty darn accurate in my opinion. Maybe bump OV up one notch and Wheeler down one.

It's strange because most of the talent appears on the offensive side and that's been the unit to under perform.
I guess they really like the new guys we brought in.

With better coaching and some of last years rookies stepping up we should definitely be trending up next season

Thoughts ?

If you factor out pay verse performance the only one I disagree with is Vernon, he should at least be an average starter. You could make the same case for Ellerbe as well.

We had this up before FF, and the rankings are from PFF but put up on ESPN. Worth revisiting, as there was not much discussion. I agree on the player ranks individually and, as you say, with better coaching, as well as some players, young and old, stepping up we do have playoff talent.
