Is this coming from a Dolphins fan posting on Finheaven, or is it coming from a Tua fan holding a ban hammer over the thread?
There is a difference....
As a Dolphins fan who knows judging and giving up on Tua after 9 games is silly.
As a Dolphins fan that realizes Tua had a better rookie season than a lot of current star quarterbacks in the NFL, including Josh Allen and Ryan Tannehill.
As a Dolphins fan that realizes Tua also came off a major hip injury and spent the entire offseason rehabbing and had no offseason workouts, OTAs or mini camps. Also realizing that he is now fully healed and this offseason will be spent training and building strength.
As a Dolphins fan that realizes the offensive skill positions were lacking this season and the injuries down that stretch were forcing Tua to throw to no name players (Yes Fitzpatrick did better with the same skill players, but Fitz is a 16 year vet and Tua is a rookie, so naturally he has an advantage of knowing how to play with much less).
As a Dolphins fan who knows Tua is a very talented player, and yes this year had some downs, but there were also some nice ups that gave me confidence he will continue to develop and transition into what we hope he will be. I believe he is only at the floor of his potential and the ceiling could be top 5 in the league when all is said and done.
As a Dolphins fan that feels Miami has built up a tremendous amount of draft picks assets and would much rather keep developing Tua, building around him instead of throwing Tua and everything we built for one player that already has a massive veteran QB contract. Yeah it would be nice to have Watson in 2021 who arguably would be better that year, but if you give up all your picks and potentially other star players (like Xavien Howard) the overall team is likely worse than if you stick with developing Tua and building up the rest of the team. Watson played great this year, but without help he was still 4-12 as a starter. I would rather an improved Tua with more time/experience, more skill players, keeping our great players and winning 10-12 games next year and being in the playoffs. Than Watson with possibly better QB stats in 2021 and only winning a handful of games and no playoffs.
As a Dolphins fan who believes the words of Flores and Grier and their very definitive commitment to Tua as the starter.
As a Dolphins fan who sees plugged in Houston sources and other plugged in NFL people who are rolling on the floor laughing at the idea that Houston would even consider trading Watson.
Will Tua ever be a better quarterback than Watson? Idk. Will Tua improve and become a top level quarterback, I can't say for sure but the potential is very much there for that. After his rookie season if Buffalo ran Josh Allen out of town, they would have made a colossal mistake, and he was awful compared to what Tua did in his rookie season. Allen started two more games than Tua did his first year and he had less passing touchdowns and over double interceptions.
So I stand by my original statement, Houston is not trading Watson and Miami is not trading/giving up on Tua.
