You have to be born with a talent to throw a football like AJ. Its not something that can be developed or improved..if it did...someone would have figured out how to put a cannon on Jay Fiedler.
The mental aspect of his game...can be coached and improved..but only to an extent. AJ has to decide to work his *** off to develop his raw throwing ability into being an NFL QB. That has to come from AJ himself.
Saban is the type of guy who will work with AJ..to the extent that he believes AJ is giving 110% at all times. If he didnt have the raw talent...he'd be gone by now..no question.
He's also still young. I hate to say it...but many of us werent all that mature at 27 either. AJ still has some growing up to do. He doesnt have much time to do it though if he wants a career in the NFL.
If he decides he wants to be a starting NFL QB...quits making excuses..and develops the intangibles needed to succeed....and I repeat....no I SHOUT!!!! IF....he has the potential to be the QB all of us want in Miami. We have the coaching staff in place to help him succeed. He has all the tools available to him..to turn him into a Pro Bowl QB. AJ has to step up though.
All you guys should really hope AJ works at it...and learns to be a QB. No one can debate the kid can chuck. He's in the perfect situation to succeed..and it would be awsome for our team if he could do just that.

Last year when fans were yelling that Miami should trade for Henson, because he was so good at Michigan & had all the qualities you want in a QB.
I posted that whomever got Henson was getting a QB for the 2007 or 08 season. However, now most consider Henson to be a bust, because he is not starting or even 2nd team.
Fans seem to think that a player can play his freshman year in college & then sit out 3 or 4 years and be ready to play at the NFL level in just one year.
AJ may never get the chance to grow into the QB some believe he can be, simply because no coach seems to want to go through the growing pains with him. All would rather sacrifice tomorrow for today.
I've posted before winning 6 games with AJ/Sage would most likely have a better long term effect on Miami then winning 7/8 with Gus.
I'm hoping that starting Gus is just a short term thing right now & that one of the other QBs will get a short later in the season after a little more time in the offense.
And I work in the medical field as well, and say the chance of that being true is about 1 in 1000 for AJ. There was nothing wrong, he had a booboo and was being a drama queen. He had no problem running and flexing/extending the muscle and moving the joint without that much pain, but a slap on it sent him into orbit with a face that looked like he just got "the shocker".KB21 said:There absolutely IS a lot of stuff on the buttocks that can be injured in a situation like that. Have you ever heard of a piriformis spasm? Well, the sciatic nerve exits the lesser sciatic foramen right under the piriformis muscle. If this muscle is in spasm, it can impinge upon the sciatic nerve. The superior and inferior gluteal nerves also exit superior to the piriformis muscle.
I've treated people with piriformis spasm, and believe me. If you palpate these patients at the right spot, they will jump up off the table in pain.

Most fans have hated AJ simply because they did not like the trade, so they bashed him from the beginning, when he did not look like a star they think a 2nd Rd pick should bring. Most fans overvalue 2nd Rd. picks. They saw a 2nd Rd pick for him, when in fact the years wait made it a 2nd rather than a 3rd.

I would love to see a guy like Feeley run the Bears offense, he has more pure physical tools than almsot any QB they have had in the last 10 years, including Grossman. I have yet to see anyhting for Grossman to show he will be the guy, and Orton is gonna take his job by the end of this year.

I have felt that once we made the trade for him we at the same time were forced to give him the year or two to develop. Unfortunately for him, Wannstedt knew his job was on the line last year and couldnt afford to play a new qb, now we have saban and i sense that he too wants to come out and win as many games as possible and doesnt want to go through the growing pains that AJ would bring. VT DOlphin makes a good point though in that Saban may also be using a coaching technique whereby you try to shakeup the mindset of a talented kid to get him to wakeup and realize he's got to give a 110% by demoting him to 3rd. Maybe AJ has been lazy and Saban is going to try to scare him into improving and giving a better effort. I hope so in that I would be willing to sacrifice a season to give him the needed time to develop. Otherwise its just another boneheaded move by this organization by trading a 2nd round pick for a developmental quarterback and not giving him the time to develop.
