Feeley Should Start

We don't know anything about Sage, or Brock, why not start them to "see what we got?"
Great!!....if Saban thinks they have more potential than AJ, I'm right behind him.

See, here's my point....We have one QB that we know isn't taking us anywhere. We have one that hasn't taken his team anywhere in 12 years. We have another that needs to play before anybody can say with any authority whether he's a complete bust or not.

AJ may certainly be a bust, no doubt about it but, we need to find out now. Wasting time with gus getting used to playing with the starters only takes away from AJ's time to do the same thing. When we get 5 games into the season and gus has a lynch mob waiting outside his house, he gets his job taken away, then how many games do we have to wait for AJ to build the chemistry that gus spent 5 weeks wasting?

Wishing for another QB at this point is as big a waste of time as starting gus.

I would tend to agree with you, but AJ shows me nothing, even with the Eagles, his stats were nothing to go, hey okay, he is good! Last night was the best I ever seen him play, yet they were all dump and short passes. Maybe he is learning to not throw into coverage and dump it off, if so, I will admit I was wrong about him, but I think it's more about him being afraid, and not wanting to make mistakes now!

I hope one of them just take charge and win the dam thing next week!

If A.J would've played bad...let's say with 1 INT, would you still be supporting him?. I think Gus will end up starting for us in the opener.

these threads are so ridiculous. every preseason game the opinion changes. you guys need to understand both QBs suck and they will both start throughout the season. I could have told you this 5 months ago, it requires a minute knowledge of football and simple logic.

What's wrong with not wanting to make mistakes?? Maybe the coaches are calling these short passes to combat the pass rush of the Steelers which would seem like a smart in game adjustment to the play calling seeing as gus wasn't getting a whole lot of time back there. Or, maybe it's the coaches way of working on one of Feeley's weaknesses which has been throwing a catchable short pass. Either way, it wasn't Feeley who killed any of his drives.

My opinion has not changed ever.

here's my point... if this is how gus plays and he knows the offensive system, I'd rather have feeley in there making the same mistakes, but learning the offensive system. Let's get this out in the open... Feeley has had to learn two different systems in two yrs, is it his fault that he hasnt made it a competition yet. Not entirely.... but he sometimes shows that flash of brilliance, lets face it we dont have another marino here and mostl likely we will never have another marino. if we can just get AJ to the point where he manages games like last night, NO INT's NO MISTAKES 11, 5 or 6 yrd completions and a good running back, this team can go just as far as the ravens did with trent dilfer...

What has AJ done to merit being named the starter based on potential? Starting Gus may not accomplish anything, but what does it say about AJ if he can't beat out a 12 year backup Qb? Should the team also start Eddie Moore, to see what they got, rather than going with the player that wins the job? A top 5 Qb is a big investment, but so is a top 5 player at any position. AJ has never played significant time anywhere, and for this the team should perhaps waste a season to see what they got? The best Qb should play, not the youngest guy. Feeley has never impressed me, even his brief stretch of very average play for Philly did not impress me. Gus doesn't impress me either, neither does Sage or Brock, the teams QB situation is terrible, and right now I don't think any of the QB's would even have a chance at starting for any other team in the league. AJ has potential, but what good is potential if it doesn't bring productivity?

amen!

Hey, you stole my point.. :fire:

Maybe Gus/AJ can just hand the ball off to either RB or RW. Oh, wait.... that just means they will fumble that opportunity as well.

well seeing as feely played against back up's and had a starting wide reciever to throw to ... i think that proves nothing... It's kind of like putting Donovan and T.O. in in the 3rd quarter to see how they far ... It wouldn't make much sence and doesn't prove anything...

Good post InFins! The only thing i'm wondering is what the sun-sentinel newspaper stated that the WR's were glad that a qb was named so that the first teamers could get their chemistry in sync. They didn't want to go through another season switching between two qbs.

The basic thing you have to remember....Frerotte is not the answer...he will simply be holding the job for next year.

Play Feeley-who isnt far behind Frerotte who has been playing in this system for what 5 yrs...See if AJ has anything...then draft someone last year.

Or Trade both of them for Mike McMahon....
