FinHeaven Fantasy NFL Keeper Draft

Hey guys, sorry for kind of disappearing there for a bit, things got really crazy at work and such.
I see things have been getting crazy here too. As I pointed out when we started this idea, I figured this would not easily fly, and is now kind of becoming the monster I feared it to be.
My overall opinion is that a chat room has no chance of working. As I can see as of late that idea has kind of been nixed, and I just want to drive that final nail into the coffin.
The list of 20-25 possible players from each participant is the only real way to do as to not, and really prolong this. However, getting the lists from everyone, along with the amount of work/coordination accompanied with the mods for it would be astronomical.
So with this said there are basically 3 options.
1) Continue as is, fill up spots we want to, and try to at least get a round in just to see how it works. I personally never had the view that it would make it any longer then that.
2) Employ the "pick list" idea and have a few people do a ton of work. Fish-head sent me a message which explained this option very nicely. I personally am not sure if the effort is worth the payoff.
3) Scrap the idea altogether. While this is technically an interesting experiment, its nothing you could not do with a bunch of people online with a Madden Fantasy draft. While the CPU in Madden also does a decent job of ranking/selecting players.

While I would definately be in to submit my list of player I would select, I believe I would have to bow out of being a type of MOD.
As I said I think this has gotten a bit to big for my current commitments right now. I personally am flattered that this wacky idea I had, as sprung so much interest. I thank you all for the input/suggestions/volunteered help. Special thanks to Fish-head, Bahama Fins Fan, Mizfit for really giving them it all and trying to make it work. I know I am the original poster but I have to step down and relenquish all power/decision making to them. I will pop in to comment and suggest things, and am defiantely still up for participating, I personally just can't give this baby the time it deserves.

Again thanks for the support with this.

Welcome back Jim. Things have got very crazy around here. thanks for giving me, Fish-Head, and Bahama the credit but none of this would have happened without you starting it. So the bulk of the credit shall go to you for creating this whole thing and putting in the work to start it up. While your original ideas had flaws, Fish-Head, i think, has come up with the best idea of the whole 20-25 player list submitting thing. Us three have decided to split the work with each of us getting 10-11 teams to pick for, of course coming straight from the lists submitted. I believe it wont take as much work as you think. the only hard is keeping up with the players that have already been chosen. but if fin-head and bahama stay as active as they have been, this could fly by. im hopefully shooting for the end of april. the original plan was calculated to roughly extend possibly into 2010. that was rediculous and definetly would have lost interest in most players.

So i will be posting a thread in the next few moments explaining more upon the updated finheaven fantasy draft thing. Once again, i would like to think JimToss for creating this whole fabulous idea to pass by the strenuous off-season. Fin-Head for creating the new faster way of drafting and Bahama for keeping the draft order and who's on the clock updated and definetly kept my head on straight. And Ricky for simulating the fantasy games on Madden. If you get a chance, will you please congradulate these guys on a job well-done so far. We arent even half way there and there is alot of work to do. THis would be contingent on working him out and seeing how he is but a healthy Merriman is one of the bes defenders in all of football. There was only one other guy considered. According to reports in mArch, he is doing great. So the Raiders take Merriman

GM's 11-21... get on your list of 20 and PM them to me no later than Monday April 20th!!! If you have the stones... Otherwise step aside, this draft is for real football fans only!!! :sidelol: get on it boys!!!!

I think you guys have a great idea with these lists and I really appreciate all the effort and enthusiasm you 3 are putting into this. Only thing I don't understand, is why you are requesting our list now if we've already picked. It is very likely that most, if not all the picks will be taken by the time the draft gets back to me at pick 58.

I suggest you guys assign days for each round in intervals when the top 25 list is due. I've posted an example below. Once the talent thins out and most of the teams have their key positions filled, updating those list will become easier for all of us.

Pick#/Due Date

Round 1
6-10/April 9
11-21/April 10
22-32/April 11

Round 2
1-16/April 12
17-32/April 13

Round 10

.....and so on and so forth until round 22. All lists and list revisements due by midnight eastern time. If someone does not revise their list, you can take from their previous list. If all the players from the previous list has been drafted, that team foreits their pick and doubles up in the next round.

Hope you guys like my suggestions. This way people can plan these list around their busy lives and we can still be finished by mid May.

Actually the real reason we are asking for lists now is to test the commitment of GMs and make sure they are 'in' and also to make sure that once the draft begins it does not come to a dead stop once again if we have to wait on people to submit lists... Just want to get it rolling and keep it rolling...

But since this is largely a 'work in progress' and we are just trying to get it going efficiently all ideas are wellcome... We just don't want to get caught in the same game of holding everything up while we wait for someone to submit... The schedule is a very good idea and Mizfit was outlining a plan for something like it before, I will approach the boys about it...

Sorry for being gone so long. I got really sick and haven't even looked at a computer in days. I will send in a list before monday.

Clownfish, good idea, just need you to fix the dates to start the 20th-Monday. I'm at the hospital with my wife having surgery, so I don't know how much I'll be on. Please send your lists for teams picking 1-10 to Mitfitz or Fish-head for now. I don't know how much I will be on. Sorry, things happen. I'm will probably be back when you pick again, but just to be sure.

Maybe this is a bit of a stretch but how bout cutting the number of teams to 16 (like only an AFC league) and then assigning two posters to one team. Just a suggestion because getting 32 committed posters is proving to be alot of effort.

Not trying to dump on your efforts so far guys, just throwing the suggestion out there, but maybe starting smaller might prove to be a better option.
