Where else do you want to find a backup QB? Meanwhile, Zach has potential high upside and is not far removed from being #2 overall. All of that talent didn't just melt off. Maybe this is the right situation. Point me at the other backup for what is pennies for an NFL even backup contract with even close to a similar amount of potential upside? We just need to get it out of him.

We already had a poster go from hating this signing to declaring it a sign of zero faith in Tua. I virtually guarantee that within the next week, they'll decide this is factual, and start a thread "Now that Miami has proven they have no faith in Tua by signing Z. Wilson...."

To be truthful, I don't have a whole lot of optimism for this season, and not because of this one signing. I think McDaniel and Grier have run their course and I don't anticipate anything higher than a third place finish in the AFC East. Yes, the team needs a competent backup QB, but I would've pursued Mariotta (good, not great) over Wilson. I also would've pursued at least ONE free agent OL or DL, but either the team was rejected by all the players they talked to or they talked to no one. We may never know.

Hope for the best and expect the worst: my credo as a lifelong Dolphins fan.

Mariotta is not pushing himself. He has a niche as a backup and is kinda just eh. I don;t see a lot of difference between Mariotta and Brisket or Teddy. They are all kinda no fire in the belly as long as your check clears we'll do our best to keep it on the rails backups. Zach has all of the abilities and seems to have some passion and hopefully McD and his crew can unlock his potential. I'm excited about the opportunity to be able to win the 5 or 6 games Tua seems to be trending to miss each year (though I hope that changes for the better as well).

"Fitzpatricky" definitely has a future as an adjective. Good to see you romping around in the main forum.

We could do worse than Wilson he has loads of potential

One thing I know for sure is that he’s better than Skylar Thompson. He was so bad he should be in detention (name that movie!).

Don't mind the signing.
Not like there's been a recent QB that sucked in NY, bounced around till he found the right situation and looked decent/good.
