Zach attack is on its way
I really hope Tua goes all the way withSince becoming the full time bonafide starter, he’s never played less than 11 games.
So this is a pretty curious statement.
Yeah look how the last guy did with the Jets , a future hall of famer brought to his knees by the JetsThe guy was #2 overall pick. Post Jets stink, could be something good in the right scenario. I'm fine with it. Should be an upgrade over the other backups for certain.
I wouldn't be so sure of that. It looks like Grier has used this offseason as a kind of reset year, he's spent next to nothing and hasn't restructured anyone. He's making moves like a GM that thinks he's got another 2 or 3 years. So, they signed their QB of the future to..........a one year contract on the cheap where he will be a free agent again next offseason and where if he knocks it out of the park ala Sam Darnold with Minnesota, will command big time $$$ on the open market. They did this instead of locking him down on the cheap to a 3 or 4 year contract.
And they would do this in a year when it is fairly apparent that if they don't make the playoffs (and perhaps win a playoff game), the GM and HC will be fired. Sorry, just doesn't make sense to me, but then again, maybe Ross has told Grier he will be back in '26 no matter what and the management team does things purposely to drive the fans crazy.
What money does he have to work with? He restructured Chubb's contract to open up $16M. Not enough for big splash signings, but he's filled positions of need with guys on the cheap - Safety, Backup QB, LB, and OL. Out of 10 FA signings so far, the Dolphins only offered a 3 year deal to Daniels and 2 others received 2 year deals. Everyone else is a 1 year deal.I wouldn't be so sure of that. He hasn't touched Tua, Brewer, Brooks, Sieler, Sanders and Ingold's deals. He could have easily restructured/extended some of these guys for way more space. He could have been offering deals like the Eagles and pushing 40-50% of the cap hit in to 2029 if he was really desperate. What money does he have to work with? I'd say he's dumped everything he could into this current season with little thought of the future, but maybe you're right. Maybe he does have pictures of Ross with a farm animal or something because I can't explain how he was brought back in the first place.
At least we've gone from "he hasn't restructured anyone" to he has restructured someone. The Chubb restructure was a no-brainer. It was a gift from Chubb. Plus, you're going with the premise that Grier has Ross' full backing. I don't think he has that anymore. Ross needs to be onboard with paying these guys upfront and guaranteeing more salary for most restructures. My guess is he's not. He has done it every year before, why not now? Another key element to any restructure is both parties have to agree to a restructure. If those players don't want to restructure, he's SOL.He hasn't touched Tua, Brewer, Brooks, Sieler, Sanders and Ingold's deals. The fact he hasn't done any of that and he's been digging around in the bargain basement leads me to believe he's treating this year as a salary cap management year, letting the current roster run it's course (Armstead, Hill and Chubb all gone next year, only other expensive "star" is Ramsey who he foolishly restructured last year for no reason) and will be looking to retool next season. Someone trying to save their job doesn't sign these types of players, he needed multiple starters at multiple positions and if we are honest he has signed 1 new starter in Daniels, everything else is a wing and a prayer from the bottom of the barrel.
That's not necessarily true. Apparently, many contracts have a stipulation that soft restructures can be performed at any time, without player consent.Another key element to any restructure is both parties have to agree to a restructure. If those players don't want to restructure, he's SOL.
I'm sure as long as it is to the player's benefit (i.e. more guaranteed or payment in advance). Again, Ross would have to agree to those expenditures. He has in the past, but hasn't done so yet this year. That's not necessarily true. @circumstances... soft restructures can be performed at any time, without player consent.
