What are your thoughts after the first half...just wanted to share mine.

1) I thought Boston looked very good. Ive never been a huge fan of his but I must admit he looks like he's in good shape and ran some nice routes. He could be big for us.
2) Howard and Lee are on my cut list.
3) Disappointed in the O-line and the secondary. From what I saw Middleton looked good, but its against second stringers.
4) QB's looked OK but it was hard to tell. They didnt have much time to throw. Frerotte looked like he got the ball out quick but threw behind Gimore when he was wide open. I wanna see what Sage does.
5) Ricky looked ok but did he seem to lose his footing a bit?

I cant wait for the second half and for next scrimmage to see how gus does vs starters.

He did. He also seemed to draw alot of attention. On his one swing pass, he had 2 people covering him. I think he can help the passing game alot by keeping defenses honest.

1. I agree
2. I agree about lee, but I think howard has a big cap hit if I remeber correctly
3. The oline was expecially disappointing.
4. Feeley is trailing after Round 1.
5. That can be fixed with a simply changing of his spikes.

I agree with everything you said.

I noticed that we're getting the plays in and getting to the line in a hurry this year. When we start actually making changes/audibles, it's going to really benefit us. Right now we're just lining up and snapping the ball.

We've got big problems at CB. The loss of Will Poole will sting this year.

The Bears have the makings of a nice DL.

The O-line disappointed me on run blocking, didn't seem to open many holes. At least on pass protection the guys that were getting in were on blitzes. The Bears seem to be pulling out all the stops and we've only been in camp a couple of weeks, so the missed assignments are to be expected.

It wasn't the OL it was the pickups by the running backs. The OL did a decent job in pass blocking, just no push from St. Clair.

Feeley is not trailing, he looked good against the first team and was forced out early because of a minor injury. Frerotte was playing against the second team and did pretty well. To say its a tie would be fair but by no means is Feeley trailing.

I agree...We may miss Patrick Surtain more and more as the season goes on....our secondary is getting torched, we are hurting badly.

Boston and Gilmore had some nice plays.

Edwards did look lost.

Lee? should've been cut last year.

O-line had a couple of scarry non blocks.

I think both QB's did good (thompson shoulda caught the Feely pass)

We're winning/no injuries = good stuff.

Good post. You covered almost all the key points but you left out one point out. No pass rush.

A.J looks good to me he had a nice pass on the first drive that went throuhg Dt's hands but Frerotte was playin the 2nd stringers lets see how he plays on Sat and lets see how A.j does against the 2nd string and then we'll call that officially round 1.

By most accounts he was was trailing before this game. Also Frerotte has a pocket presence that Feeley doesn't seem to have.

Yeah I forgot all about the DL, that's a big disappointment for me thus far. We are not putting any pressure at all on the quarterback.

I thought the O Line did a respectable job in pass protection. The pressure that was getting through was the RBs responsibility. I saw a couple times a free rusher came on a delay blitz and both the RB and FB weren't blocking anyone. So the RBs need to step up in that department. The run blocking was pretty bad. I have a feeling that will come with time. To me that takes the most time because that is more a product of the RBs knowing how the lineman work their blocks, plus this is the first time that they went against a different front than practice. The o line will take time but I am encouraged by what i saw.
