First Half Impressions

if you watch Gus' TD pass to Gilmore, you'd have noticed that the FS was shadowing his route. If Gus throws that ball where it's suppose to be, it woulda been an int. Instead he threw it behind him just enough to get by the reach of the safety's left arm, but just in the right area for gilmore to make a play. That was just a case of putting the ball where your reciever has a chance to make a play and if he doesn't, then at least the DB can't get it.

Could not agree less!!! It was a terrible throw forced by a good pass rush. All he needed to do was lob it in. No one was deeper to int or break it up. Just a nice play by gilmore.

Frerotte's two biggest passes came on lousy throws. He underthrew Chambers, and threw one way behind Gilmore. He didn't do anything particularly impressive.

So what, he's not perfect, It was a TD wssn't it? He was scrambling, and while pressure was right on him, he made good throws other than that one

The ball ended up being right where it needed to be though, becuase Chambers was double teamed, it allowed Chambers to make a play on the ball,it wasn't a good throw but it was where it needed to be in order to be completed,if Chambers was only single covered then the ball should've been thrown over the defender to chambers in stride, or lobbed so Chambers could snatch it over the defender, but how is that going to work with two guys on each side of Chambers, Chambers would most likely have tripped over one of the DBs legs.

What are your thoughts after the first half...just wanted to share mine.

1) I thought Boston looked very good. Ive never been a huge fan of his but I must admit he looks like he's in good shape and ran some nice routes. He could be big for us.
2) Howard and Lee are on my cut list.
3) Disappointed in the O-line and the secondary. From what I saw Middleton looked good, but its against second stringers.
4) QB's looked OK but it was hard to tell. They didnt have much time to throw. Frerotte looked like he got the ball out quick but threw behind Gimore when he was wide open. I wanna see what Sage does.
5) Ricky looked ok but did he seem to lose his footing a bit?

I cant wait for the second half and for next scrimmage to see how gus does vs starters.

I agree with everything you said, but I would like to add one more thing to the list. We need to find a way to provide a better pass rush. Chicago's QBs had plenty of time to throw the ball.
