First Take: Pro Incog, Anti-Martin: Hell Has Frozen Over!!!

I guess Im just not very bright on this, I just don't get the motivation for MArtin to do this. I think he definitely is not right in the head and this is the issue. There is little if any positive outcome for Martin to make false accusations about bullying. I mean if its some preconceived plan he has to know there would be an endgame and if it wasn't happening then what would he gain. I don't see any monetary gain from this, he obviously played football well enough to be on an nfl roster because he was on one and still started every game he played for us. I personally feel that this guy is not right in the head. I know many people want to think this was some grand scheme but since his parents are lawyers and some people claim they masterminded this, they must know no case in court would be settled based on one voice mail with so much other evidence to consider. Also they must know that if these is no case the wells investigation would not help them. So with that being said there is one possible reason and that's MArtin has personality disorder issues or he is very stupid. Obviously two ivy league lawyers would not have concocted such a weak case that has no end game that gets him paid, except maybe what he would have got anyway

Personally I think it was a bunch of things building up (the beat writers have said that Martin was seething about being moved back to RT, and I think he did have a breakdown) and then he took really bad advice. I also think that whoever gave Martin advice was expecting Miami to do what they had the tendency of doing; shutting everybody out. Same with Incognito. I do not think Martin's camp was expecting the players to talk openly, expect Richie to do an interview, nor did they expect Richie's agent/attorney to give up all those texts. Everytime one of those things happened, the response from Martin's camp IMO was weak. And again, I've grown up with lawyers so I understand a lot of the legal stuff, and from what I saw we were making Martin's case weaker.

Now I don't doubt Martin was bugged by something, but I do think that the whole issue was more or less an attempt to not make him unsignable by another team. Problem is... hes basically done just that.

My question would be why as a lawyer would you expect players to not speak out against acusations if they are not true. They had to also know that once they showed voicemails or texts they would the same I return at some point.
That's why this as some grand plan on MArtin's part makes no sense because there seems to be no logical endgame.

Martin's camp had to be surprised at not only the content of those texts but the sheer volume. It's tough to say you were just "trying to be friends" with that much material. Martin also probably forgot everything he said to Richie and didn't tell his mommy about it.

As we speak, the Steve Smith, Bayless and even Ryan Clark panel now has taken Incog's side, called him a scumbag but falsely maligned, and are blaming Martin for scapegoating him for his own shortcomings. Martin put Incog's career in jeopardy and left him hanging for months. Surprising. It's a delicate line to tread for these dopes, but even Clark said, he wouldn't want to play with Martin but Incog is the kind of warrior every team would want. As I said, the narrative is changing

Now that they're agreeing with me, I need to rethink my position.

Oh and another thing was Steve Smith observing how suspect and contrived the timing was for Martin to schedule his Dungy interview during the glare of SB week. When the traditional "Defenders of The Indefensible" begin equivocating on Incog and backing off on the red meat pro-Martin racist angle, props to Richie's legal team for a job well done in interjecting a sobering dose of reality well-timed between Martin's Dungy charade and Ted Wells report.

I agree with this. I don't think it was some grand plan but more of an overreaction by someone in the Martin's camp. They were shocked by what they heard in those voicemail and had to do something about it.

I think if they had took the time to calm down before releasing those initial voicemail, they could have handled it in-house. They could have brought it to the attention of the Dolphins to resolve whatever problems they saw. If the Dolphins did not resolve the situation to their satisfaction, then and only then should they have gone to the media.

Martin is a soft baby who will probably not be welcome anywhere.

What surprises me is how many think the league is not full of incognito's?....The league is full of Children in their 20's who haven't grown up yet...so what?

Incognito is smart enough to use all this notoriety to his future advantage, or one would hope his agent is

A book deal and acting career are inevitable at this point. Martin is the one with the dim future prospects.

I can seriously see that guy getting up to speak in front of 2nd graders and getting jeered and having stuff thrown at him... :chuckle:

Could you imagine the chit talking Martin is going to get on the field from opposing players. They will be relentless on him. He should just stay his fraternity house, Mamapapamia.

kind of what I was thinking too......martin's parents and agent got only part of the story (the voice mail with the N-word, etc) and overreacted and then maybe were even getting more of it piece by piece and then were so far into it the way it was going that they were just having to bull their way through with their agenda....

Doesn't really matter. In the long term neither of their opinions mean anything. We can't possibly care about Clark's opinion. He trashed the Phins.

The thing that gets overlooked was Martin pulled this right after being moved from left starting tackle. That means he was such a baby about being demoted he decided to quit on the team and use Cog as the scapegoat.

Wonder if Incog will ultimately come out and sue martin for lost wages in civil court? or if he can. I'm not a lawyer so im not sure if it's possible but i'd like to see it happen

If anything, he should give the Dolphins back their money for his horrid play in the games in which he played this season.

That part is still true.
