Fish Castoff D-Line vs the "Browncos"

If you were "tossed"... you wouldn't be posting....

Exactly WHAT are you trying to say?

I was simply replying to the fact that people who come here just to piss people off have been banned. The other poster wanted to make it out as though everyone here what was not a fish fan was a troll. Or something like that :)

I find it pretty hillarious that Fish fans are focusing on Denver's defensive line instead of their own. Sure, we brought in some players who were considered underachievers in Cleveland, but it seems to be lost on you guys that they were ADDED to a unit that was already 4th against the run and 4th overall in the NFL last year. Nobody questions that Brown, Warren and Ekuban are extremely talented. They were all high draft picks. That has not been their problem.

Actually, yes. I'll question that Brown, Warren, and Ekuban are talented. They are turds and busts, pure and simple, and Shanahan is an idiot for not only picking up ONE of them, but THREE of them, and making that the backbone of your D-line.

Riddle me this... If the Broncos run defense was so good last season... Why overhaul the D-line with a bunch of turds from the Browns? These very same turds, I might add, who did an excellent waving at Jamal Lewis from behind when he racked up what, 295 yards on then in a single game?

Traylor is 70 pounds overweight, with limited mobility and makes a good space eater but can't do the one thing you MUST do to stop Denver's running game; move well laterally.

70 pounds overweight? How do you come to that conclusion? He's 340 pounds. That's pretty par for course as a Nose Tackle. And no, his job isnt to move laterally. He's a Nose Tackle, for christsakes. His job is to stop everything between the guards, if he can do that, gravy. Our nose tackle being unable to move laterally is not going to hurt us, as the Broncos look for cutback lanes where the OLB/DE are, not where the Nose Tackle is. Please, familarize yourself with the game, and in your case it's probabaly going to start with the description of a football.

Holliday was a puzzling pickup to me. Kansas City's "defense" was pathetic the last two years so ANYBODY leaviing the Chiefs should be looked at with extreme skepticism. In the two Kansas City games last season, Denver runners gained 299 yards on 48 carries, or a whopping 6.2 yards a pop. It was even worse in 2003 as Denver went through the Chiefs "defense" like a hot knife through butter, averaging 34.5 points, 488 yards total offense and 224 on the ground, going off for a ridiculous 7 yards per carry rushing. For the 2004 season, KC's "defense" was horrible, finishing 28th against the run in yard per rush and dead last in yards per pass. They were no better in 2003, finishing last against the run and 29th overall.

Wait a minute... Picking up Holliday is puzzling, but picking up pretty much the Browns entire D-line from last season is not.

Newsflash: YOU SIGNED 4 D-LINEMEN FROM THE WORST RUN DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE LAST SEASON AND ARE STARTING THREE OF THEM

Thank you.

you have some valid points, but I'm not sure if I'd be crowing over underacheiving players on the DL over their entire careers. The questions still remain, are they any good? You can't tell me you were happy when Shanny brought those players in? From what I've read, everyone in Denver was screaming and some have said Shanny may have put his stay in Denver on those underachieving players!
Finally! Response to the actual post. I'll admit I was skeptical at first, but Warren by himself has erased that. The guy has not only been dominant, but a team leader so far. He's a huge upgrade in the middle. Ekuban has also been a pleasant suprise, giving us some serious depth and speed off the edge. It took a while, but Shanny's convinced me he pulled off a coup here.
Guess we will see Sunday on that 150 degree playing field at Dolphin stadium if they are worth their pay!
It's forecast to be 90. It was 100 last week at game time in Phoenix, 120 on the field. Our 1st unit didn't even play and our 2nd team beat their 1st team. Heat won't be a factor. A sloppy field could be.

There are plenty of people from other teams here, Bills fans especially that have more posts than many of the fin fans here. I'm just saying there seems to be quite a few people who have registered here in the last week just to talk smack and they probably won't be around after the game either. They'll move on to the next team they're facing and do the same thing on another forum.

well i didn't read the whole thing, but you cant compare our defensive line to last years at all... or our secondary or our LB core... everythings changed from personel to our schemes...

kevin carter, keith traylor, vonnie holliday, jason taylor

thats a pretty lethal front 4... with depth behind them, also our scheme will be very random and unpredictable...

neither you nor I can say for sure how our d will stack up against the run or the pass... all you can go off is the talent of the names listed, and the preseason numbers for our 1st team defense, which have been outstanding...

but really we dont know, our team is a complete 180 of last years team and we'll see come sunday

Ive been here since 2003 and yes Im sure alot of the Bronco posters wont be back soon (some cant) but thats because we wont play you again this year. Why would we hang around and talk about the bills/fish game? Im not gonna get banned and will be back next week to either say "Told ha so" or eat my crow.

a young, quick, potentially dominating DT in Warren, increased speed and depth off the edges in Ekuban and Engleberger and a high motor run stuffer in Myers. Anything physical freak Courtney Brown adds is merely gravy. If he stays healthy, this is a top 3 D-Line. Miami will not be improved on defense by adding old, slow, over-the-hill players like Traylor, Holliday and Carter to go with their other geezers like Seau and Thomas. Another 4-12 season is a distinct possibility. Barring a weather related equalizer in the form of a mud hole for a field, Denver should rush for 180-200 yards and probably sacks Gus at least 4 times. Giving Shanahan more than a week to prepare against a rookie coach is a recipe for a Denver win. http://

Warren has shown nothing in his career that would make me think he will be dominant other than getting drafted too high. The only thing physically freakish about Courtney Brown is how much he gets injured. Your defense line is not a top 3 line. You have a really good player in Pryce on the Dline and that's about it. I'd rather have Taylor, less injuries, more playmaking. Seau might not be what he used to be but we have a kid that will surpise you in Crowder. Thomas is by no means a "geezer" yet. You need to take off your horse blinders. You only beat a Dolphins team by 3 last year at home that had nothing going for it and you believe that now you will blow out a much improved team at their house. Myself, I think it will be a close game and we will see who wins on Suday. My prediction......Fins-17 Broncos-13

Well then I obviously wasn't talking about you.

You obviously have not been to the main board thats a fact. Its atleast as active as this one if not more.

You know what I wouldnt even waste my time signing up for another teams message board. So those other teams must not have anything going on.
You should find the other 3 pony fans and just IM each other about your predictions. Because we have our own. Thank you and welcome to Hell and every team will get burned here.

Well it should be obvious that you'll see new fans in here every week from whatever team you're playing. I will promise one thing: win or lose, I'll be here after the game; gracious if we win and congradulatory if we lose.

You diss Holliday for the same reasons you praise your Browncos - they underachieved. And you bring up the fact KC's defense was so awful? If I remember, the Browns was horrible as well.

And that, Donkey fans, is the definition of a troll.

Fish and Hoof, my point is that if the Broncos stay around and hope to make the big move to win in the 4th quarter, they will not get it done easly...

The weather and humidity here at 1-4 PM is a killer for the home team, imagine for the out of town opponents...

One thing in my first statement is that, basically all Mini Camp and Training Camp that the Fins participated on was around that time of the day. Some of the paractices were right around noon. They have been condition for the right time in their Season schedule.

I believe that is the Home Team advantage that they have had in the past and it continues...
