Five who may not be around next year

Junior Seau - Great, Hall of Fame player. But his time with Miami as a player must end. I would like to see him stay and coach with the defense. But that will not happen. He will probably try and squeeze a couple more years out somewhere. Maybe with a team that has a chance at the Super Bowl?

Maybe Junior stays because we do have a chance at the SuperBowl within the next two years :fire:

Ok I respect your opinion far more after that post

But to me the price is

A higher spot in the draft

or

A decent QB

I agree we do need a backup RB, but I just hope ronnie doesnt get injured anyway, also his low salary makes him great trade bait since teams wont be paying him a lot even if he is a risk for them

Who would you take with a higher spot in the draft?
I'm not sure that would do it for me. To give up Ricky, I think we'd have to get more than just a better draft position. Unless you're talking about "Reggie Bush" position?? Then it's a no brainer. But no team is going to give us what we'd want for him. Saban has said that he has no intention of trading Ricky and he's pretty much been a straght shooter so far.

I'm hoping that we get lucky and end up with Young or Cutler. After last years draft, who knows who's going to fall to us?? With what looks like about $25 mil in cap space next year, I think we'll be able to get just about anyone we want in free agency. It's going to be an interesting off season.

The jury is out on Wade Smith and his ability to play center ... SETH is still in the bottom half of the centers in this league .... and NEEDS to be replaced

Eddie Moore has potential, but can't stay on the field ... Saban has stated such ...

Ricky SHOULD be getting the carries that he does ... Ronnie is NOT ready to carry 25+ a game for a 17 + game season ... anyone who thinks that is mistaken ... AND it will be a repeat next year .... and that is GOODNESS

Traylor will be back if he can play enough ... next year is the transition year between Zgonina / Traylor to Wright / Vickerson .... they'll both need another year of development ....

Boston and Seau are gone ....

McDougle will be gone ... unless he can be signed VERY cheaply ...

Howard 'could' be gone ... but we have to find someone better than him in the nickel ... [Poole / Daniels / Madison] should take care of that ... but if his cap hit is too much, we could keep as a back up ... personally, I see him being traded !

Madison will restructure, so he will stay ... that and he is 'earning' a job next year with his recent play ...

Minor could be gone ... his value is in versatility ... not sure if Morris or Harris can replace that ....

GUS and SAGE are not likely to return .... equally, if GUS can maintain last weeks performance level for the rest of the season ... HE could stay ....

There are several of the depth players that won't return either ...

The Dolphins have so many other needs (OL, DB, QB) I see having two premier running backs as a luxury the Dolphins can't afford. If moving Ricky can help the Dolphins fill one of these needs I think it would be a good move.

If the needs were not so many I would feel differently.

It won't. Moving Ricky still wouldn't bring any real value. He's worth a 5th rounder tops, which would only make us hopeful for a diamond in the rough at a "team need" postion. I'd rather have the best backup RB in the NFL then roll the dice with anything less than a 2nd round pick. I still don't believe any team in their right minds would giuve up a 2nd round pick for Williams.

Eddie Moore -- It is long past time to get rid of him. It's worth the $300k or so cap hit to save his base salary.

Wade Smith -- He's another non-Saban guy. Getting rid of he and Moore will surely make most Dolphins fans jump for joy. What wastes they were.

David Boston -- I don't know if he'll be out of the league or not, but I cannot imagine bringing him back.

Travis Minor -- I think only one of Minor and Morris will be back, and it's really a no brainer which one that should be if you ask me.

Keith Traylor -- I think this is it for him. I thank him for his year and would welcome him back. I just don't see it happening, though.

I don't know that Howard is gone because it looks like the cap hit might be big. We'll have to see just how bad Saban thinks he has been.
At first I was dissappointed in this thread. I knew there was a reason I scrolled through it, just need to find it. Well said.

I guess some people still dont realize youre not getting a better RB than RW for 350k. Its just not possible unless LT or Edge took a mega paycut (ya right) that i dont know about. And we're not getting a 2nd for him when Edge and Alexander couldnt even get a second for their teams and they dont have RW's baggage. Hes a phin, hopefully for good...deal with it.

Can't argur with any of those but I see Sage gone too.If we ended up getting that CFL QB, then Lemon could be gone too.

Ozzy rules!!

Good point + longevity from Ronnie is important cause of the amount of money and contract legnth that has been committed to him by the franchise. Having a 2nd workhorse like RW around will only help that.

Yeah, and I want a million dollars and a supermodel girlfriend but we don't all get what we want. Ricky has been there and done that. He's back not only because he needs the 300K he's earning every year, but because he hopes to avoid the 8 Million dollar lawsuit he's sure to get smacked with had he not come back and/or decides to leave again. He doesn't have a choice but to play for the Vet minimum and he has absolutley no leverage in the situation. I'll pass on the Waterfront by the way.

Good faith? You speak of the Language of his contract like it holds no merit in this discussion. The truth is that he didn't have a choice in the matter. If you believe he's here because of his love for the game, and he's playing for the Vet minimum out of good faith, then I too have Waterfront for sale.

Then why is it, that the Dolphins and Ricky's agent have already talked about re-working his deal. Why is it that Ricky is doing all the right things? Not only because he wanted to come back, but as a show of good faith. Good faith, with the thoughts of NOT making the vet minimum next season.

Sure Ricky owed Miami 8.6 million, but some of that was a carry over from his original signing bonus in NO's. Now if you don't think all these things are being taken into consideration, I got no land I'll sell ya....

You make points, but the points can be debated. How much money would teams have had to have paid Edge, or Alexander? A gargantuan amount, plus a pick. Ricky's baggage might have been a bargain when no signing bonus was involved. They would lose a pick, and I do agree that it would not be a second, but one could argue that a 3rd is possible, especially if it's a conditional one. Or it may be the means of moving up in the draft. Anythings possible.

there is one, and only one guy thats gone FOR SURE (imo):

reggie howard

cap reasons, play skill, everything factors in

well sam adams will eb available next year n he is only 32 so that might be a nice fit for us!

Ricky is staying in south beach that is where most of the weed is bought into the us rite, why would he leave that and miami is closer to jamaica then any other nfl team rite nah but really Ricky is staying u cant break up the R&R express

Ricky shouldnt be getting as many carries as he does

BUT

They should keep him unless they get a great trade offer

Why shouldnt Ricky be getting the carries he has? Its not like Brown is clearly the better option. saban has been very fair with the carries although we need to run more in total.

If someone offers a 2nd okay trade Ricky but I highly doubt anyone will so keep him he is much more valuable to us as long as he does not make us overpay.
