flashes of brilliance,

flashes of brilliance = throwing the ball away (not to the defense)

As I said, that's easy when you know you won't get hit in MC, I'll wait to after a preseason game or two to hold judgement. I have my doubts about AJ, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

quarterbacks can't show "flashes of brilliance" except in their consistency, which means "brilliance" can't really be measured in "flashes".

Heh, last year the only brilliance Feeley could possibly have shown came in flashes because that's all there was time for before 2 (or more) defenders nailed him.

I don't know when making a "good throw" became a "flash of brilliance"

Probably about the same time that Dan Marino retired...

"I HAVE FLASHES OF BRILLIANCE ALL THE DARN TIME BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME THE MOST BELOVED DOLPHIN FAN" AND FROM THE STANDPOINT OF BRILLIANCE IS CONCERNED ESPN AND OTHER GNAG-CHOW MEDIA NITWITTS THE WORD BRILLIANCE DOES NOT GO IN HAND IN HAND. AS FOR OUR RECIEVING CORP I THINK THEY WILL NEED TO STEP IT UP SOME OR WE WILL BE IN TROUBLE AND I ALREADY ENOUGH OF THAT TO BUY A RANCH AND CONDO IN ALASKA.

I'm confused, it seems the media guys saw a different AJ, than some of our fans who attended the mini camp this weekend. Now I do believe the team wasn't as sharp as a fan would like them to be, but this report and some others are way different than some reports on here. Are we looking at the team from a learning standpoint when reporting, or are we looking at the team from a, they should know everything by now and should be ready for the season standpoint? Then we base our reports on the latter. Do most of the team seem comfortable in the new schemes or not..My opinion by reading your reports and the media's reports are that the team is in a learning mode and making mistakes because they're still thinking and not reacting. Am I reading this wrong? :(

Another Camp report from the Weekend

People see what they want to see. I doubt AJ has shown flashes of Brilliance. The word BRILLIANCE is exclusive to players like Favre, Manning, etc. I also disagree that Feeley has a stronger arm than Gus.

I'm starting to drink now so I can figure out what he said! Get back to you in a couple of hours!

This is getting out of hand. I was there all weekend and as Awing Pilot said, the defense is close to the bleachers and the O is on the far side. When the 7 on 7s' start they come to the side of the field nearest the fans. All Coach Saban meant regarding Ronnie Brown was that he'd like to see some fire and attitude but not until the real games start. Ronnie has a very easygoing demeanor and a ready smile which is cool and he's still learning the new system but Coach wants him to be a fiery competitor come opening day. Everything about his running, blocking and recieving has been just great. I saw Ronnie catch everything with his soft hands. He is huge in person and faster than I can even tell you. I love this kid. As for the QBs, it's tough to judge with everybody still learning but just from my point of view the defense is ahead of the offense. Frerotte looks very comfortable because he's like a Coach on the field. He knows the Linehan system cold and it shows. I was at the proshop today and met Proshop girl who posts here on Finheaven. She was great and I ended up getting the White Ronnie Brown jersey. CK, regarding flashes of brilliance, there were 2 Cheerleaders there on Sunday and they were pretty brilliant!!!

That explains it. Your laptop doesn't work very well at the bottom of the swimming pool...

As much as I appreciate Migs and his amateur reporting, keep in mind that miamifootball365.com is operated by Migs from this here message board (columnist, I believe he's a mod as well).

His site is 100% commentary. He does offer up some interviews that he gets on his own every now and then, and it is possible that he may even have gone to a mini-camp or two this weekend, but his primary source of information are what actual sports writers have already said and written.

As such, I believe he's prone to mistakes. For instance, I believe he exaggerated Saban's statement that he would like to see more assertiveness from Ronnie Brown, into his statement saying "Ronnie Brown has not looked impressive"

I also believe that "flashes of brilliance" statement was his own choice, but not based on actual observation by him or anyone who has watched Feeley at camp. Most likely he took the term from an article discussing AJ Feeley's performance in late 2004.

I do not mean to denounce Migs' work or anything, I understand what he is trying to do, however, his work should be considered mostly commentary with the understanding that much of it is not firsthand observation.

I'm curious, at the bottom of the article it says written by Hugo Guzman, is that Migs pen name? If not, maybe that explains some of the irregularities.
