Now if it were Wanny or Speilman(boneheads) throwing smokescreens like this I would assume we were in the Twilight zone.
Well do you think he throwing smoke screens or not? You just said he is doing nothing special.

I have a funny feeling if we don't trade down he takes Edwards!

I believe I share that feeling. It's not necessarily my choice, but I really think it's a possibility.

I wouldnt be upset w/ that. If we were stuck at 2 and came out of the draft with one of the big 3 of Smith, Brown, or Edwards I'd be happy. If we traded down with the Vikes (which I would prefer), I'd like to see us take whichever of the big 3 RBs is left or Barron if none is at 7, and trade down again from 18 with maybe the Eagles, and attempt to pick up alot of later 1st day picks we can use on guys like Luis Castillo, Antaaj Hawthorne, Marion Barber, John Bullocks, etc. If we could swing that, it'd be a great start for Nick.

He's doing what he should be doing. It would be a mistake to do otherwise!
Okay, maybe I am use to Wanny doing nothing and blabbing about everything. :roflmao:

I still think Slick Nick has done a good job of keeping everyone guessing.

Oh, I definitely feel Nick is blowing smoke, and I'll tell you what I think the biggest part of the smoke screen is. It isn't this idea that we are prepared to take Edwards is Smith isn't on the board. IMO, the biggest smoke screen was the comments Ronnie Brown made that stated the Dolphins haven't contacted him in over a month.

Can you remember a time when we knew less about who we would pick?

Can you remember a time when the media knew less about who the #2 team would pick?

I disagree, I think he has everyone guessing. And that is very extraordinary considering we have the number 2 pick.

There is no clear cut consensus number 2 pick in this draft, if there was Saban would be hard pressed to pass it up. There's no 2nd franchise QB to pick. I just think it seems as if Saban is doing such extraordinary work because we've had to endure the likes of Wannspeil for years!

IMO the talent is so jumbled and similar at the top 5 that it's just hard to predict and that's why your seeing smokescreens and media cluelessness. You have to give credit to Saban for closing out the media as well.

You know that is interesting. I distinctly remember several players in the NFL who have stated that they did not know a team was going to select them until it actually happened. Soemtimes not talking to a player means does not mean he won't be selected.

What are the odds Benson goes before Brown? Until the combine, Benson was the hand down favorite to be the first back taken. Does a 40 time really change that? Or is it media hype?

I do think a lot of it is media hype. I don't think there's been one clue coming out of the Dolphins organization that should lead any of us to believe that we'd take Brown. Sure we talked to him, among a million other players, but the Brown thing has been complete speculation. I would just as soon assume we take Edwards, but I don't recall us ever meeting with him.

I agree with you. The local writers and sportscasters can whine all they want about their restricted access - this is why. It is a definite advantage, especially in his first year when nobody really knows him. Glad we got a guy who will utilize every advantage available to him to improve our team.

That's the way I see it too. I think we really have no idea.

You have to give Slick Nick props. I have never seen a more baffled public over a draft pick. I mean usually the top 5 or so everyone has a good idea who will be selected. But no one had a clue in the world what we will do. I mean no clue at all.

Thats what Saban wants.Confusion, doubts all designed to get teams to trade up with Miami.

For a man who keeps things close to his vest dont you think its strange that he practically announced that he wants Smith and then when it appeared the Niners might take Smith he switches baits and comes out and practically announces that he is interested in Edwards.

well if nick can fool are opponents as good as he has fooled us, and the media
I cant wait to see what he does on the field
edwards is my pick :)

I agree Fin, what Saban has done is not by accident, or normal. San Fran and Cleveland have not exactly been talking up a storm on who they are going to pick, and it seems to be more obvious who both want. I can't remember the last time a team in the top 5 had everyone so confused on who they would pick, and that was not done by just staying quiet.
