Flying to Miami tonight!!!! Need ideas on what to do, places to visit, etc.

go to Shula's Steakhouse in Miami Lakes.. great food and tons of dolphins stuff.. less than a 1/2 hr drive from dowtown miami.

Shulas is good but that other steak place in Miami Lakes on Main Street "El Novillo" real good too.

Also "Hereford Grill" on LeJeune has some damn good cuts .

The porter house 164th or close to it and Collins ave near Newport beachside resort

Man I miss that place. You guys are making me homesick.

Like everyone says, plenty to do on South Beach. If you're going to the keys like you said, and want to snorkel you can go to Bahia Honda park, you can walk on the old bridge there which is pretty cool, and they have kayaking. You can snorkel a little I suppose but the real snorkeling is off the charter boats where the reefs are. It's about 30 bucks I think but well worth it, you can book it right at the park. Take the boats that go to Looe Key. If you want to go all the way down to the end, to Key West, that's fine, but it's a longer trip. Key West has it's own flavor and it's great to bike around, or rent a scooter to take you everywhere. The streets are narrow and quaint down there so you don't want to get stuck in a big sedan rental car. Stay for the sunset.

Someone mentioned Broward, las olas and so forth, that's a nice area. There are public beachs and private beaches in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. Hollywood has a boardwalk. If you're in that relative area and looking for a quiet day to decompress and want to get out of the hot sun but still be on the beach, head straight to Dania Beach. They have a state park right next to the public beach, drive in and sit your chair and blanket down at the quiet southern end of the beach, which is right when you turn in. There's one area with grills and one without it. You sit there under the trees in the shade, and you're literally on the beach at the same time. Best of both worlds. You have to go in the am to get a good spot, have lunch on the beach, then after you leave the park go straight to Jaxsons ice cream parlor, it's a fixture down there. Homemade ice cream and awesome hot dogs.

So it really depends on what area you're hanging around in.

I love Hollywood beach. When I'm there I eat at Tonys and the taco bar

Hey guys, thanks for all the great tips and places to go, it's much appreciated. We decided against renting a car since we're only here until Monday but so far, we've really enjoyed the beach right by the shore club and enjoyed lunch at Grillfish. They have some awesome shrimp poboys! Then we were lounging at the pool, catching some rays, and relaxing until I looked like a freaking lobster, lol. Dinner at Terrazza was fantastic! I think we might head back at some point before we leave :p

Tonight, we're looking to cab it to dinner somewhere and hit a cool club. Any good places we could check out that are relatively near the shore club?

Tomorrow, we're planning on hitting the stadium tour, then grabbing food at possibly bokampers or something closer to the stadium. Is their food good, or is it just awesome because it's dolphins related? I'm imagining it to be essentially a Dolphins themed "Hooters" (which sounds like I've died and gone to heaven), but I don't think my lady would like it too much. If it's good though and the food is tasty, I can try my best to sell her on it.

Anything else fun around the stadium to check out?

I really want you to take this advice for tomorrow . . . . rent a car and drop the car the next day at MIA before your flight.

Think about it, you are about to spend a bunch of money on cab fare to get to Sunlife and back and then to the airport in the morning. You can rent a car from the Thrifty down the street for $25 and you'll have the freedom to go anywhere you want. Yea add on some money for gas and parking overnight but it's totally worth it.

Definitely go after some Cuban Food. Versailles is very good and is the more "commercial" option, but in a good way, but really anywhere off of Calle Ocho you can find damn good Cuban food. As far as Dolphins sports bars go, I mean you got Bokampers, Bru's Room, Duffy's on 163rd just to name a few.

As far as tonight goes, you are in a prime location on South Beach on a Saturday night, you can pretty much party whatever way you want, with whoever you want and listen to whatever type of music you want. Me personally, I don't have upscale money . . . you'll catch me on Ocean at the Clevelander or even Fat Tuesdays / Wet Willies.

Glad you found Grillfish, VG food and reasonable. If you want to try VG Cuban food or just a Cuban sandwich, Porta Sagua is further down Collins at 7th or 8th street. It's a landmakrk and reasonable.

There's nothing around the stadium. And the stadium itself is out west in the suburbs, away from the beaches.

Malls, restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

Bokampers might be good for you, since you're sunburned, you can get out of the outdoors. You know, another place I'm thinking of, to eat, and they have music (maybe not on sunday though), is an Irish pub, the wife might like that instead of the sports theme. Fields Irish Pub is a good place to go. It won't be too far to drive from the stadium. Here's a pic:

Or, you know, you could go to the Hard Rock in Hollywood, it's a huge complex, with gambling, restaurants, bars, hotel, and it's fun kinda just to walk around. Otherwise, you can just drive back to Miami and hang out at the hotel and relax.

Pompano has so many strip clubs it's ****ing ridiculous.

But no way am I making that drive from Miami Beach when i can hit Tootsie's, KOD, Scarlet's or Take One.

Been to all of those and Booby trap was the best bang for your buck by far.. Scarlet's had some nice females though but not much interaction..

Hell its only 35 minutes from Miami? no big deal!!

To continue what Vaark was saying here's some fun things to do in the Keys

Also John Penekamp state park in Key Largo has dive boats that take you out to the reef for some great snorkling.

I haven't been to the Keys for almost 20 years, but I ate the best seafood of my life there...amazing!!

Can't lie, I can make that Pompano to South Beach trip in about 30 minutes if traffic is smooth to and from the beach.

For a local, no big deal, not something I would recommend for a tourist with his ol lady tho (Although Booby Trap being right off the Turnpike certainly helps). I used to frequent Angel's in Opa Locka a lot. Best music / value / interaction combo out there. I think they recently closed though because the wrong crowd started to frequent this place more often They started keeping a MDSO bus right outside. After a shooting, it was pretty much over for them.

Tootsie's is good for tourists though. Good location, tons of girls, cheap entry. Yea they tax you on dances but it is what it is. Truth be told, you can get with some really nice females in there (non strippers) so his wife may not be out of place if she see's a lot of other women there just having a good time. Plus if there was ever an "official Miami Dolphins Strip Club" this would be the one.
