For all this stupid crap about Philbin not being a motivator

Ooh I want to  No doubt this season has had so many challenges. But the simple fact is that if Philbin is going to get the credit for leading our team through all the mess (ie Martin/Incognito) and coaching the team up to beat NE .... then he has to take the heat for not coaching the team up for Buffalo and NYJ. Those last two games were two of the worst ever showings for a Miami club I have ever seen especially with the playoffs on the line. We had just killed the Jets in NY a few weeks earlier and we sucked like we did at home. That's called a choke. And it wasn't just the OL but the entire team. That's poor leadership from all the coaches. 39-7 the last two weeks is  I am not a Philbin basher. If he stays then I obviously will hope he leads us to win but he has a lot of growing to do as a HC.

I don't think any other coach....ever, leads this team with the issues I have mentioned numerous times to the playoffs. Can't put it any more simple than that!

Says who? What coach makes Hartline catch those balls in Buffalo? What coach magically makes our O-Line run block to where we can pick up a 4th and 2 feet? What coach can make LBs tackle in the running game that haven't been tackling all year? We lost because of talent, or lack there of......we were actually in the position we were to make the playoffs because of Philbin.

Yet we managed to win games with those same players. Why don't the players get the credit for being "in the position we were to make the playoffs"? Giving Philbin the credit for all the good things and the players the blame for all the bad things is a bit too simplistic.

So he's the greatest coach in the history of the game? Dude, check your meds.
It's January 1st and I'm pretty sure you just wrapped up the award for worst post of the year.

Everyone is at fault. Coaches, FO, and players. To be as inconsistent as the team was this year there can be no other explanation. I mean .... how do you beat Indy, Cincy, Pitt, and NE but lose to Buffalo twice, Jets, and TB? Everyone is at fault. But the harsh reality is that the owner cannot fire the team. He can fire the coaches and FO. I am on the fence about firing Philbin but the GM and some other coaches should go no doubt.

Well, then how do you explain the team don't seem ready to play for the 2 games that could have gotten the team in the playoffs? The team came out flat in almost every game. Did not scored a TD on our first drive in the last 13 games of the year. Is that a HC doing a great job getting the team ready to play from the get go?

Ozzy rules!!

Philbin does remind me as somewhat of a Caspar Milquetoast ... :)

this is what i cant put my hand on , is Miami beat , pittsburge , chargers , colts , cincy and the pats , mostly with the same players we have ,and even beat a Jests Team 2 weeks before 23-3 at there place , BUT play the same Team @ home and get embarrassed at home with the crowd behind us ?

Huh? If we made the playoffs his post might have seemed silly, we didn't make the playoffs though...

Posted something similar earlier in the thread. Frustrating and hard to figure no?

**** happens. QBs are inconsistent. Teams win SuperBowls one year and miss the playoffs the next. Teams win 11 games one year and 3 the next. You can't explain any of it except to say **** happens.

I don't think I'm reading him wrong. He's essentially saying that no coach in the history of the game could have done what Philbin just barely missed doing. Therefore, Philbin accomplished as much as any great coach in history could have accomplished, making him the equal of every great NFL coach in history.

Really? Did you happen to catch his 1st few years in Jacksonville? Anyway, it's good for the Jags that they were able to realize that he was not the right man for the job and move on. It's really paid dividends for that franchise.

Stop comparing to Joe to a Hall of Fame coach.

The Dolphins were among the best teams in the league this year in number of penalty yards per play. In fact it was one of the things that compensated for deficiencies in performance elsewhere.

Discipline is more than not getting penalties. It is simply doing your job on a given play. I am not convinced every player was doing consistently enough for Joe this year.

i have gambled for a long time , around 15 years , and i know alot of people dont ,and isnt there thing , But ive come to think that alot of this is vegas , because theres alot of people that gamble , a whole lot , and im thinking that they have alot to do with teams winning and loosing , i know some people that dont gamble , or follow this stuff wouldnt understand as much , but , theres Millions of dollars put on certain teams , and vegas really never looses , but ive come to belive that they have alot of say so on team wins and loses .

I have a question for you Hayden, what is our opinion on how we were able to beat the 3 AFC division winners and the Chargers and Pitt?

I think you ask a good question. My answer is the difference in talent on the teams is slight. All of those games could have gone the other way.

I also have to be fair, Joe and his staff did a great job vs. the Patriots in game two...
