all roads point to henning.

I asked an expert on the subject just for clarity.

The aints beat us unfairly(TD that wasnt) the last time they beat us and we were worse than today.

Bess,Marshall,Bush,Gates(if someone hits the burner in stride someday....) can own the aints plus no senile henning calling the shots.

Going into last year everyone beleived our defense was going to be the issue. Well we saw how that turned out and yea we have playmakers on that side of the ball young and a bunch of no names except Wake, Taylor, Dansby but we know that these guys have it and if you really think about its been about a year. I credit Nolan for much of that turnaround. I certainly do not hold Dabol on the same level as Nolan and really do not expect the same results but I am hopeful. I just beleive you have to look at this thing in the rear view mirror a little bit. First year no expectations and after game 3 the wildcat turned our season around. We go into year 2 all comfy that we have a good team and are going to expand on the wildcat thing draft Pat White and it blows up in our face with the defense getting the major portion of the blame. Year 3 we fix the defense with Nolan and bring in Dansby and Marshall. Marshall was not enought and we still had the issues on ST and offense regardless. Since ST ended OK the year before again we felt comfy last year but that ST poor play was exposed early and often last year so another change at the coaching staff and things settled down though not spectacular. Soo problem identified and now we have a new young offensive coordinator that of course steered a offense worse than ours last year but just a couple of years before that was a perceived hot offensive coordinator from the Pats just a couple of years ago. Last night we saw the spread offense which is suppose to play to Henne strengths which according to all the stats should help improve Hennes game. Also I want to point out that the issue about spreading out the defense when our offense is on the field is being addressed with the likes of Gates, Bush and others. Weather they are the answer remains to be seen. But also you have to consider that when Sporano came here his coaching staff was hand picked by Bill Parcells and company. Sporano did not come here as a head coach of any team like Shula, JJ, Saban. What Sporano has shown which many others have not is he is not afraid to make changes. There are 3 major issues that will be interesting to watch this year. 1. Can Henne get the ball in the end zone and not just move the team down the field. Thats what he did last night so I am not settled on him until I start seeing TD's. 2. Running back did we improve or move backwards. Whats the plan. 3. Sporano play calling and being too conservative or not creative enough plus clock mgt. Has he identified his lack of preformance. 4. Just for kicks I am throwing in the TE position where is the speedy TE who can catch the ball. What are they seeing we are not.

7-9 teams don't get respect from fans of other teams. An offense that finishes 30th in points scored isn't going to command respect from anyone.

That's a fact of life. Win some games and respect will follow.

Nah, I wouldn't take this guy's view as the view of Saints fans in general. I watch a lot of Saints games (NOLA is my second home, and will eventually be my first) and hang out with a lot of Saints fans. The majority of my friends loved Bush (ha!) when he was there and wish they were able to keep him. His stats while there simply don't come close to telling the whole story. Whenever he was injured, it clearly affected the offense.

Sproles will make up for it quite a bit, as will Ingram, who is a beast. They'll be fine. In the end, I feel it's win-win for both teams. I just wish we had a little more depth at the position. I'm not all that confident in Hilliard.

Funny, all the Saints fans I know only say "who dat _______". I'm happy to know you have the privilege of knowing Saints fans with an iq higher than 25.

I hear you on the depth, whether Hilliard, Sheets, or Grigsby makes it.. ehh. I don't see the hard running from Hilliard everyone else does, I've never seen him knock someone back before when running.

Saints fan here and here is my opinion on Reggie. Bush never lived up to the pedraft hype. He wasn't the second coming of Gayle Sayers, but he was still a valuable assest to my Saints. I wish the Saints would have kept him. I also wish he could have stayed healthier while here.

Watching Bush play will make you curse him in disgust one play saying "why the frick did he just do that? jeez that was pathetic" , then the next play make you say.. "Wow, did he just do that? That was amazing!". And honestly there was a little more of the famine than feast going on, BUT.... what I like most about Bush was that he always gave it everything he had. He always had that intense competitor mode on in every game. So when he made a bonehead play or a fumble because of poor security or muffed punt return, he would be as pissed at himself as you would be of him. Bush was refreshing after the years of having Aaron Brooks smile on the sidelines after every INT he threw or losing a fumble.

He would get criticized alot for running out of bounds and not getting an extra yard or 2 by lowering his shoulder, but if that extra yard or 2 meant a first down, then he would give everything he had to get it. I didn't mind. Why risk injury for another yard or 2 after getting a 1st down already.

In my opinion think Sean Payton didn't utilize him as well as he could have. That's just me armchair coaching though. Also, Bush may not have had great looking stats for a RB as far as rushing, but really you should add in his receiving stats. It seemed like 90% of reggies catches were from behind the line scrimmage so most of those receiving yards were not only YAC, but also almost like rushing yards... think of it like a long hand off :p

I will miss Bush. He was great for the team and the city. He will always have the championship that he shares with the Saints and New Orleans. I hope he does well in Miami but I do not look forward to seeing Reggie highlights without him being in a Saints uniform. It just wont seem right to me.

While I am here I might as well chime in on some the other comments in this thread. First I think the quoted Saints fan's comment is a valid opinion. The Fin's offense was one of the worst in the league last year. Maybe saying Maimi has "no" talent wasn't fair but also the OP's list of "all the talent" on the offense is a little far fetched. Ricky and Ronnie are gone. I'll give you Marshall and Bess but that's it. Marshall+Bess do not come anywhere close to the level of the Saints Offense. Sorry, but ONLY a dolphin fan would think otherwise. So feel free to disaggree if you want, just know that you are wrong ;P

The Saints have more weapons, and have a QB and system that distributes the ball around very effectively. So there wasn't as much need to rely on Bush as greatly as Miami will. Bush has attributes the Fins offense has been lacking. Speed and explosiveness. He could ignite this team if given the chance. It seems likely he will have a much larger role than he had in NO. Will your OC have the moxy to utilize him to the fullest and help ignite it? Or will Reggie get bogged down in the stagnant Miami offense? Only time will tell

If Reggie could stay healthy for a full season for a change... it could be interesting. He never stayed healthy in N.O. but who knows what will happen this year.

That's been my opinion since the last game. I get that you guys used him as a decoy and teams had to respect his ability despite his lack of production. I think that was a disservice to him.

Er, yes, because we actually need him.

Don't confuse Daboll with Henning. Daboll has more creativity in his pinkie than that Brontosaurus has in his entire body. And you can say what you will about Miami, just remember that if Miami's D hadn't backed off in the second half the last time our two teams played, your team doesn't win that game. Your guys also lost last season to a 7-9 team that wasn't even as good as Miami in the playoffs, so I don't know that you can claim that your team is that superior to Miami.

. And you can say what you will about Miami, just remember that if Miami's D hadn't backed off in the second half the last time our two teams played, your team doesn't win that game.

"If"..... meh. "If" New Orleans Defense had showed up in the first half. You can't "if" NFL games. "If" your team was better they wouldn't have lost with such a big lead. Better teams find a way to win. Bad teams find a way to lose. It is what it is. That game was a comeback win for the Saints. Nothing else.

Your guys also lost last season to a 7-9 team that wasn't even as good as Miami in the playoffs, so I don't know that you can claim that your team is that superior to Miami.

I had only claimed the Saints Offense to be superior to Miami's offense in the last 4 years or so, but since you went there. We did win the SB 2 years ago and made the playoffs again last year. I think that makes us superior.. at least in last few years. This year.. who knows. If preseason is any indication at all then I am worried about my Saints.

You are right about the playoff loss to Seattle though. I am trying to erase that from my memory. That was one of the most embarrassing losses I have had to endure as a Saints fan. Especially with that run that never needs to be mentioned again.... ughhh :( . And trust me.. embarrassing losses for a Saints fan are plentifull. It made me sick to my stomach

I think the Saints "talent" is vastly overrated.

QB: Brees/Henne
RB: Thomas/Bush
RB: Ingram/Thomas
WR: Colston/Marshall
WR: Henderson/Bess
WR: Meachem/Hartline
WR: Moore/Gates

Saints have the advantage on talent at QB, RB2, WR3 and WR4...but, they run a lot of 4 wides which is why they would make sure their #3 and #4 are talented...whereas up until now that wasn't a priority for the Dolphins...

the biggest talent gap is QB...

this is kinda funny to me cus that is the exact kind of offense i see us becoming. Gates and Thomas are rookies, and ingram too but Henne I see will rid himself of the past in this O. Brees was good in SD, but was not really considered great. He became great once he got to NO and Peyton had that offense set up for him.

interesting....

and nothing is going to get "bogged down" in this offense. No wildcat is #1 reason. Lot more after that.

It really did make me laugh lol, read below.

I found it hilarious =/, miami no talent? well lets see, before reggie came here, marshall/bess/hartline/brown/ricky/fasano/polite/hilliard/moore. Pretty good amount of talent on offense if you ask me.
i havent posted in a while but LOL

those players definitely strike fear in the heart of NFL fans everywhere.

take off the aqua goggles

you know, im not really scared of guys like meachem and colsten and henderson and moore...but when they play together with brees in control, its pretty scary. Never looked at Bush as scary either...until he dives from five yard line into end zone skyin over two defenders. I hated that guy!

past tense.
