I have no idea what you're talking about at all.

There was one concern with Cam Newton coming out: his mind. Anyone who watched him at all knew that he was a can't miss physical specimen.

When Luck decided to go back to school, I said the Panthers should seriously consider Cam at #1 - way back when people were mocking D. Bowers as the #1 pick (LOL!?!).

i had cam newton the #1 prospect in the 2011 draft...the evolution of that kid from a passing stand point from the time he got to auburn to when he left was astounding...a legitimate duel threat qb with prototype size and athleticism a cannon arm with terrific vertical accuracy and ball placement...all wrapped in a te's body to take nfl contact...pretty much saw him as a guy as a duel threat who could change the game...just the rarest of rare...carolina got it right by running an offense that played to cams strengths...his ability to throw with accuracy down the field despite pressure off an uneven platform was special...and as a runner no db wants to tackle him...kids a brick wall...35 tds as a rookie...i don't know how anyone can "still have doubts about him..."

as for logan thomas being a poor mans version of cam newton logans not the same level pure runner of the ball not as elusive not as quick twitch not as pure a passer imo either although i expect some big time growth there this season...i don't think logan has the same polish...more inconsistent to date...but when people see that same tight end size same pretty darn good straight line speed and the growth as a passer and physical tools not to mention from what i hear a pretty good kid to boot they're gonna pounce...and early...athletically i think a better comparison for logan thomas is josh freeman...although i don't know if he'll be as hard to get to ground as josh freeman...that kids houdini with the way he can get out of pressure...

Cam Newton was a physical specimen but he had legitimate accuracy issues. He had terrible footwork (he's improved, but he's far from "good" in regards to that) and his accuracy on anything short and medium looked atrocious. Even in the national championship game he overthrew several wide open receivers 15-20 yards down field. Anyone saying otherwise is either using hindsight or simply lying.

Cam Newton's transition from college to pro is one that can be chalked up to an incredible work ethic, and an incredible coaching mind in Chud. The offense he tailored around Newton was phenomenal and I think might be one of the greatest rookie work I've ever seen. Newton absolutely had huge questions on his arm. I'm gonna need to see posts from before the 2011 draft to believe you, to be blunt.

Almost every scouting report said something along these lines -
Limited field vision — does not process the passing game. Inconsistent throwing mechanics with a flick delivery — generates all of his power from his upper-body strength and too often arms the ball. Streaky passer with spotty accuracy. Makes his receivers work hard and throws into coverage. Does not spin a tight spiral.

I'm not saying people didn't have him as the 1st overall prospect, because a lot of people truly did, but to pretend like it was obvious he was going to be a surefire homerun hit is dishonest at best.

To the extent that any prospect ranked in the top 5 picks is a "surefire homerun", I disagree with you here. I had a clear vision for what he brings to the NFL and I disagreed with a few of the characterizations that you quoted in your quote (which I think comes from Wes Bunting, no?).

Incidentally it doesn't serve any purpose to get into more Weeden debates. Both sides of that one are pretty dug in and the next thing to wait for is just seeing how well he does or doesn't do this year. He's a rookie, he'll have rookie moments, but I expect him to turn in a performance that is upper echelon for rookies. I have a bet with someone that he'll notch two of the three following: 78+ passer rating, 1.25+ TD/INT ratio, 6.5+ wins.
 
To be fair, Boomer and CK Seemed to be in love with Cam from the get go.

I wasn't at all.

draft one of them if they're avalable. we need to stock up on qb's because we can keep the best one and trade the other's to stock pile draft picks.
 
The #6 overall pick Morris Claiborne just signed a contract fully guaranteed with no offset language.

Now only 7 first round picks remain unsigned...one of them being Ryan Tannehill.

#03 - RB Trent Richardson, Cleveland
#04 - OT Matt Kalil, Minnesota
#05 - WR Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville
#08 - QB Ryan Tannehill, Miami
#11 - DT Dontari Poe, Kansas City
#20 - WR Kendall Wright, Tennessee
#23 - QB Brandon Weeden, Cleveland

To my knowledge the only prospect that signed a contract which included the controversial offset language is #26 overall DE Whitney Mercilus. I could be wrong though. Not every team has guaranteed the 4th year of their draft picks' salary period, but that's not abnormal.
 
i heard brandon weeden was balking on something in the browns offer...i think it was 4th year guaranteed...
 
No doubt. He's got quite a bit of leverage and not a lot of time left in his career. He's not going to mess around.
 
frankly i don't see why any of these high picks would agree to put that language in their contracts...the money so different in this new cba these guys live for guaranteed money why would you give in before camp and take away some of that money you could pocket over the course of the contract...doesn't make sense...footballs a tough sport...guys get hurt all the time and never suit up again...i wouldn't be volunteering for that stuff in my contract i know that much...
