Wow wtf Grier this is bad. Would of been a steal.

He’s hurt a lot. There is a reason he got so little interest.

The Bears didn’t even consider brining him back and made replacing him a priority.

Grier decided to save the money and at least bank on someone more likely to be healthy and has scheme familiarity.

He was already in decline before he tore his ACL last year and is another year older.

If he is their big FA WR signing then I am happy about that.

My initial thought as well.

If you’re spending that kind of money on a player with very little chance of helping you get to a Super Bowl, what’s the point?

It’s possible that they had to spend the money as they haven’t spent much the last few years and they do have to spend a minimum amount of salary cap space over the course of a few years. It’s just so hard to comprehend them spending this money, on that guy, at this point in his career. With a $125M in cap space going into FA, they probably had to spend more than what they already have.

Kudos to his agent.

Between this contract and Milton Williams being the highest paid player in Patriots history, it’s mind boggling.

Yeah that’s no excuse he’s a top shelf talent who eventually has to put together a season to get paid. Would have loved to plug him in at LG while taking a rookie in the 2nd or 3rd. If he plays and does well we let him walk and get a comp, if he gets hurt again we have the rookie.

That was definitely my plan; 2 vet guards and a rookie at 48. We only got one. Why no interest in Jenkins? Again, being an eternal optimist, I'm hoping we have an offer on the table to Hernandez.

30 other teams could’ve signed him too, he didn’t generate interest for a reason.

He’s also 6’6”, which is not ideal for a OG playing in front of Tua.

Teven Jenkins is a lot like Wynn... always, always hurt. I think the front office may finally be avoiding that in marginal players.

I suspect that we did the same with both Lamm and Wynn... at least, I hope so.

Difference is Jenkins has played at a very high level in the nfl. Just hasn’t put together more than 11 games starting in a season.

Lamm was fantastic dude. He’s been starter quality while getting paid backup money. He’s just older and wants a ring at this point, guys been contemplating retirement last two years but he’s been a late bloomer and finally developed into a good nfl player so he’s collecting a little more while chasing a ring. Wynn yeah maybe right maybe they are tired of the injuries which sucks because he’s good

Our running game died when Ajax went out and Lamm came in... so I disagree that he was starter quality... quite strenuously.

Then there's the way his season ended last year... with back surgery-- which is a KILLER for a big man. More Lineman careers are ended by bad backs than by anything else.

He was a hot 'no way in Hell" candidate for me.

Borom may surprise us. Almost all of the pre-draft data on Borom said he'd be a Guard in the NFL... that he didn't have the mobility to play outside. Then... Chicago decided to ignore that and have had him play almost exclusively at tackle.

I NEVER thought he was a Tackle... still don't. I suspect he's in the mix at RG.

Borom's mobility will be judged relative to his position ask by NFL teams. While some teams might be tempted to try him at tackle first, he doesn't appear to have functional lateral movement for pass sets or as a run blocker. If a team can fix his hand placement and get him working inside opponents' frames, we could see a jump in his block sustain and push as a downhill, phone-booth blocker in a power scheme. He creates some movement as a down blocker and teams are usually willing to spend time developing bigger guards with experience at tackle on the collegiate level.

Well all of them, including Jenkins, were drafted to play tackle.

As a former short QB myself, it does matter. OGs and Centers shouldn’t be 6’6” when your QB is Tua. It’s just not ideal.

Now if the player is an all-pro caliber talent, it’s not that important. All things considered, if you can avoid a player that height, it’s better for the QB.

OGs are in the throwing lane, OTs aren’t.
