Free Agency Breaking News- NFL - Breaking News Thread 2025 Offseason

I will never understand why DT, especially a position flexible guy who can disrupt the offensive backfield, isn't a "premier position". It is nice to get them cheap, but good ones are often under-drafted like Aaron Donald was. I think that a great DT will eventually become as valuable or even moreso, than a great pass rusher because a DT has to hold up inside and disrupt the backfield.

I feel like once teams saw how dominant Donald was, we've seen more emphasis on elite players on the DL. For some teams.

I like that, getting picks 25 58 and 79 in exchange for picks 13 and 98.

We can fill a lot of needs with 4 picks in the top 79.

Grier does have a history of trading with them, the Tunsil trade.
Good luck. Not many teams are going to be moving up in this year’s first round.

wich proves spending isnt a measure of success

Sure about that?

6 of the top 10 were playoff teams, 1 making the SB.
2 ( PANTHERS AND BEARS) will be playoff contender, 1 with a 2nd year starter.

Then there's the Giants and Titans.

After that 11 was contending for the playoffs in week 18 last year and 12 won the SB.

I think the outlier are the unsuccessful teams with the vast majority either being playoff teams or contenders.

75% of the top 12 were either playoff teams, SB teams or eliminated week 18.

Wanna guess what 13and 14 were?

Certainly a combination of spending and drafting well.

Correct.

The true outlier, on cap is the Ravens.

However, they have 3 starters on rookie contracts, including a 1st and 2nd rounder.

Between Staley Linderbaum and their RT, they have spent significant resources on their line.

I bet, if Booker is there at 27, he'll be a Raven

Steelers also have young guys on rookie contracts.

So 2 of the bottom 15 in cap spending, have spent significant draft picks on their line.

Then there's the Phinz

So did I, I remember hearing it in the car and yelling at the top of my lungs.

Yup. I was a Roquan Smith guy. Less resources for him.

Funny thing is, if Miami had traded for Roquan, rather then Chubb, they would have been in position to draft Linderbaum and tackling wouldn't be as big an issue for the Phinz

Same here, Smith was so obvious. That Chubb trade is proabably the single worst thing Grier has ever done.
