Free Agency Breaking News- NFL - Breaking News Thread 2025 Offseason

I will never understand why DT, especially a position flexible guy who can disrupt the offensive backfield, isn't a "premier position". It is nice to get them cheap, but good ones are often under-drafted like Aaron Donald was. I think that a great DT will eventually become as valuable or even moreso, than a great pass rusher because a DT has to hold up inside and disrupt the backfield.
Look at last years superbowl. Both the Chiefs (Jones) and the Eagles (Carter) were the main guys the opposing olines had to stop, it helps the edge rushers so much too. Bc the QBs have to roll away from the inside pressure right into their laps.

Yup

In today's NFL, the DTS and G are a lot more valuable then they were 10 years ago.

People need to wake up and realize how important they are and resources need to be spent on them

That and trading up for Eichenberg while passing on Creed Humphrey

Or resigning Eichenberg and signing Borom after stating they would focus on fixing the O line
I go all the way back to passing on Lane Johnson, there has never been a more obvious pick than he was. I knew right then that Greir had oline way too far down his list of priorities. ..... Never did i expect they were THIS far down, his lack of ability to find good olinemen should be studied.

He has found a few good ones.

Tunsil and Hunt, but he's been unable to keep them.
Armstead, but signing the top tackle available is not really a talent

Brewer was a great pick up. Will be interesting to see how contract negotiations go, because this is year 2 of 3 for him

That's really nothing to be impressed by, hes been GM for almost a decade and the Oline has been 28th or lower like 8 out of 9 seasons.

Just saying

Oh I agree. I was not trying to make it seem impressive. I thought the line about Armstead made that obvious as well as him being unable to keep 2 of his good picks in Tunsil and Hunt.

But hey, that's how you read it so.

wich proves spending isnt a measure of success

In fairness to the Bears, their expensive OL acquisitions haven’t played a down for them yet.

Their starting OTs are both on rookie contracts, they added IOL Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman and Jonah Jackson this off season and they are the ones making bank.

The Bears are primed to explode this season because of those major upgrades, as well as the obvious coaching improvement.

They signed Borom so it would make Eich look like a Pro Bowler in comparison. I hope Borom never takes a regular-season snap for the Dolphins. Signing him right out of the gate was an asinine decision.

Jeff Ireland was responsible for passing on Lane Johnson and picked Dion Jordan instead. So, no, you did not know that about Grier when the Dolphins passed on Lane.

Some of us have been saying this or explaining this for a while now.

Maybe coming from Mr. Sharp it will open some people's eyes. Curious where QBS who supposedly carry their teams (Burrow/Allen/Mahommes) o lines ranked in these categories.

Some wanna criticize Tua.
Some wanna criticize play calling.

Maybe, just maybe, if the team focuses on FIXING THE DAMN o line, suddenly Tua wins against playoff teams. Suddenly the play calling looks better.

I swear, it's as if many have forgotten why the team collapsed in 2023. They also forget how almost unstoppable Miamis offense was when they had a good O line

This team looks completely different if they just FIX THE FU$#ING Oline. It's not complicated. It's not hard. No need to overthink it.

Absolutely no need to also think anything other then O line at 13 and 48 is the right move. Nothing, absolutely nothing or nobody on the defensive side, in this draft will change this to a winning team. The freaking Texans last year should have showed that.

Get a line that can convert on 3rd and 1. Get a line that doesn't force McDaniel to need to call so many screens. Get a competent O line and suddenly this is a good team and we remember what the first half of 2023 was like.
