crayton sucked as a wr just before he left dallas...been dreadful in san diego at it...only value he had left was punt returns and all his speed was gone...its like davon bess on punt returns...

Agree to disagree. His final year in Dallas was his best in both YPC and TD's .... he got the nice contract in SD for it. YPC's increased to among league's best, but didn't score very many TD's, while also getting hurt.

He's been better than Nanee at nearly every point of his career and can return punts.

omar said today bess hasn't taken one snap as a boundary wr...all slot work...i can't see them sending him out wide to motion a miller or bush into the slot all that often on 3rd down...

no doubt...imo clay is critical...you can put bush or miller in the slot but that means your taking your best slot guy out of there in bess...if its 3rd and long the oppositions not gonna cover bush or miller with no 2 down lb slug...

it's pretty critical we get to 3rd and 5 or less...if we want to keep moving the chains
I was thinking Bush/Miller as a 4th receiver...with Bess staying in the slot of the opposite side. Either way...we agree on Clay. He might be more important than any other WR/RB/TE to the potential of this offense. Im looking for a monster year...call me optimistic but the way he's been separating in camp and the flashes he showed last year. Im looking for an 800 yard 6+ TD season out of this guy.

the last time crayton had value was his last year in dallas...thats my point...but he was in the way of ogletree imo at that point...who had much better tools at wr...as for the better than naanee thing i don't get the point...naanees been hot garbage forever

i said 700 and 5 plus tds...we we're right there in the same ballpark on that...but he's gonna have to catch the damn ball cause i envision it coming his way a lot

the other thing about bush and miller as 4th wrs or whatever in the slot...you just know that we are gonna run those same ole boring *** routes that every team runs when they motion a rb there or what have you...i'll be shocked if we see anything different

quick slants crossing routes against off man a wheel route here or there

There are 2 slots in a 4 wr set though

There are 2 slots in a 4 wr set though

depends on the formation...i don't really consider stacked 3 wr sets on one side to have a slot...guys usually off the los to give them clean releases

the other thing about 4 wr sets with bush or miller motioning into the slot with bess on the other side where does charles clay come into this picture??? you gonna run him out from in line off tackle??? i don't think he can be flexed out next to a slot wr i think thats considered unprotected but i'm not 100 percent sure of that...

anyways you want clay to get as clean a release as you can...you put him inside off tackle and have him run routes from there and he's gonna be in all kinds of traffic

would seem to me in that kind of set clay comes off the field...i can't imagine them taking him off the field on passing 3rd downs very often

So, how come SMITH shut him down and made him look like "Pop Warner"? I remember that game. And I can't remember ANYONE else coming CLOSE to doing that to A JOHNSON!! Repeat, NOBODY ELSE...EVER.

EVER???

I guess you missed the 2010 game against the Jets
when Johnson had 32 yards receiving.

2010 season versus the Colts Johnson had 3 receptions for 33 yards

2009 season versus the Jets Johnson had 35 yards receiving

2008 season 29 yards receiving versus the Titans
2008 season 19 yards receiving versus Oakland

In 2007 Johnson had 37 yards receiving versus the Browns

In 2006 Johnson had games with 9,12 and 28 yards receiving
In 2005 Johnson had games with 3,18,20 and 25 yards receiving
In 2004 Johnson had games with 13,28,31,and 34 yards receiving
In 2003 Johnson had games with 10,11,12,13,17,18,20,24,and 28 yards receiving

im pretty sure teams gameplan and double team andre often. the only 2 teams on that list who had a corner who could take andre one on one with no double team. would probably be the raiders and jets.(nnamdi and Revis)
