Game-Planning Gentleman Easy!!!

i'm so sick of hearing this excuse. you know what bro? no one else is game planning either. yet they are scoring. in fact, the 49ers scored 3 tds last night, how many did we get? how many has our first team offense had this preason in 3 games? 1? and that was an arrant throw that we got lucky on. you need to open your eyes. we can't block anyone and our qbs are 2nd stringers. until we get new people in here nothing is going to change on offense.

dude, you need to open your eyes. Our O is vanilla. pure and simple. Mcmicheal sucked and so did Booker. I do not plan on those things happening every week with these guys when the real season starts. BTW, if you watched the NE and Jets home games, they showed alot of special plays that they intend to use in the season for sure. PRESEASON MEANS NOTHING! Another thing, Buffalo really played strong yesterday in front of the home crowd yesterday, problem is, Moulds has bruised ribs, not good for the start of the season.

Since when is the truth an excuse?

I'll say it again. Gameplan or no Gameplan, if this team continues to make mistakes it isn't gonna matter how much they gameplan. The offense makes mistakes. When corrected, I think they will be fine.

And all those mistakes are correctable. except the getting pushed around up the middle when the jailbreak comes. That is what I worry about more, but I also think once Ricky and Ronnie are playing together, these things will be covered up and we will make big plays as one stays home to block and the other goes out to get the dump off.

Yes, good points. I was referring to the post atop this thread implying we might be able to find a new starting center and other gems on the waiver wire. I wasn't thinking about depth. This year we are in a good situation regarding waiver pickups because I think it defaults to the weakest teams from 2004 receiving priority.

Normally that is overhyped, picking up someone else's players at the last minute. Teams are reluctant to jettison someone they have worked with for years or months in favor of a less familiar guy who someone else gave up on. We have no idea how agressive Saban will be in that area. If his NFL scouting crew is very confident in their evaluations perhaps there will be more turnover than I'm expecting. Hey, Wes Welker wasn't on our team at this point last year, if I remember correctly.
Yeah I know what you were suggesting and agree 100% rare to get "starters" from the waiver wire. I was just adding my 2 cents worth and in todays market, that means it was worth.... .003 cents...LOL. Teams don't usaully shed someone at this point that become "impact" players on other teams. once in a great while but usually back-ups and SP teams contributers.

The turnovers killed us last night....

The offense was moving the ball, just getting into a good flow, and then we'd lose it. We were in scoring position alot last night when we ended up turning it over. My take on the game was this. Less turnovers, we win......

Our defense was awesome last night. Sure they gave up a couple nice runs, but for the most part, our defense played wonderful. The Steelers starting offense is considered one of the top offenses in the NFL, and they did not score an offensive TD against our first string last night. I think that's impressive....

In reality, the only points the Steelers offense scored all night was due to turnovers....

The running game struggled, but this is the #1 defense in the NFL. The passing game looked fine, it was the drops, and fumbles that damper the numbers Frerotte had....

The OL, for the most part, played well. There was plenty of time in the pocket for most of the game, those few breakthroughs are bound to happen now and again. Our DL was all over their QB's, and I thought we generated more pass rush than they did, we just didn't capitalize on it....

Take away that 66 yards fumble recovery for a TD, and this was a seven point game against a team contending for the Super Bowl. I hate to lose, but I thought we played a good game all things considered.....

PHINZ RULE!!!

My main problem is that the friggin' Offensive players have NO sense of concentration EVER! I don't care if it's Pre-season or Regular season, they continue to show the same traits. The drops, the fumbles, the lack of protection, the false starts, the holding. If we were the SB champs right now I wouldn't care, I would know that come game time they could turn it on. My point is that this team hasn't earned the right to lose focus.

This just might be THE dumbest post I have ever read on here.

Since when is Pittsburghs offense considered one of the top offenses in the league? Hines ward just came to camp. Plaxico isnt on the team anymore. And Duce Staley is hurt. That's 3 Starters that arent with the team all preseason. I know Hines played but he has only been in camp a week which translates into very little practice.

i actually agree with blitzkrieg....it was clearly obvious turnover killed us....we were in steelers territory a few times and gave the ball away.

Since they're considered a legit Super Bowl contender. Since they went to the AFC Championship game in 2004. Maybe not the best offense in the NFL, but among the top 10 for sure....

They do have the #1 defense in the NFL. I wasn't that impressed with either team last night to be honest, but had we not turned the ball over so many times, we would have had a great shot to win IMO....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

It is preseason, and the final score doesn't matter, but the way you play does. Game planning won't magically compensate for poorly thrown balls and mental mistakes. The preseason is all about execution, which matters whether there is a gameplan or not.
