If you're referring to Thomas, he had 1 penalty last season...Holding

The special teams unit ended with only 16 penalties all season
which placed them 11th best in the league

No not Thomas - just the state of ST returns the last decade.
 
Not a huge lose , but a good special teams player. Good Luck in NY. Say we offer NY Parker and 2nd this year and next year for Beckham. I can only dream, but he is working his way out of NY..
 
I bet with this team. It would come out better overall if the rules for the entire season were. 1. Don't return any punts or kicks out of the endzone. 2. Don't field any punts inside the 15 yard line. 3. Only attempt returns if the game is on the line and you need a big play. These rules will cut down on penalties, turnovers and will result in better field position overall. Also it will reduce injuries.

6 out of the last 9 years we were in
the top 10 in fewest penalties for special teams

Other than those two poor seasons in 2016 and 2015
we have been one of the least penalized special teams groups


2017-16...11th
2016-19...tied for 21st
2015-24...tied for 28th
2014-12...3rd
2013-15...tied for 8th
2012-15...tied for 8th
2011-11...tied for 3rd
2010-13...2ND IN THE nfl
2009-7...best in the NFL
 
You keep Thomas over Akien simple math both are great ST players but Akins simply is a huge liability on the field and Thomas is definitely a upgrade when playing the slot or Safty positions as a backup. Lucas more of the same. Special teams are huge but those players need to be able to play when a starter go down. Now Maurice Smith might be that guy but naw on the other 2.

Yeh. Block in the back is pretty much a guaranteed call. The worst part is that a lot of them have no impact on the run.
