Usually, I am ok with trading down, but I caution Hickey to not outsmart himself. We need an impact player at #19 more than we need an extra pick.
Impact RT?

If the Saints offered their 27th and 58th for our 19th, would you guys take it? I think I would...we would have the #27, #50 and #58.
Impact RT?
I would. With the goal of getting McCarron at either 50 or 58.
Nothing to 'outsmart' here. Hickey and his tenure will be a one year proposition if he doesn't fix the oline.
If the value isn't there for a Tackle, move down get that extra pick and take the Guard out of UCLA who would be better value. Use one of the 2nds on a TE or LB, the other on another lineman.
This team will go no where again, if the line isn't fixed. I'm sure Hickey and Philbin understand the position they are in. Sadly, some like the above poster do not.
I would consider Lewan or Martin an impact player because we really need a guy who can start at RT, but backup LT. Out of the six years Albert has been in the league, he has had only one season where he has played every game and that was in 2011. I think for me, we need a guy who can start right away, make a difference, and eventually climb the ranks to the pro-bowl. When Pouncey was drafted, I remember he wasn't a sexy pick, but now look . A lot of us, including me, are damn happy to have him.
I hear ya dude, and agree. I am just a little worried that Hickey is gonna try to impress to much, get to cute, and screw things up. I guess I have Ireland and his last few drafts to thank for that. :-)
Yes, Ireland was definitely stricken with a serious case of the fancy play syndrome. That third round trade down then trade back up last year was bizarre.
